James Toney was always both funny and credible. Haye (to me) was neither on this occasion.

Vlad was very clever at the beginning, playing it cool but the long pause at the end when Haye was winding him up told its own story. Haye definitely got the upper hand in that face off and I dont think he was trying to be funny, he was trying to get under Vlad's skin - and succeeded.

I am a Toney fan and he let himself down on more than one occasion at pressers, i'm with Gasman as i dont think haye was trying to funny. IMO Haye comes across more checky chap than arrogant tosser and he really does get Wlad's blood to boil, HBO did a good job catching that atmosphere.

Aye, that was quality by HBO and Kellerman did well to instigate it

If Wlad is playing up for the cameras, then he is a good actor. For me it seems like he has a genuine dislike for Haye. No other opponent has verbally attacked him like this.

It could be all for hype, but I can't really see them getting together to stage this. Haye knows he's playing up to the villain role, but I refuse to believe Wlad is all that calm in the face of all this

david knows his best chance is if he can wind wlad up and he's found the perfect way to do it in that interview. wlad was noticable angry when he mentioned vitali. he just needs to do something to get that reaction from him in the ring and i reckon klitchko will make mistakes.

Wouldn't buy to much into the HBO faceoff. That was a while ago now and Wlad has probably cooled down by now.

I really do see an aggressive Wlad July 2'nd unleashing 1-2's early. Either way, this could be good or bad news for Haye. How he deals with an aggressive Wlad is another matter.

That was a compelling face-off and much better then anything Sky have done so far between the pair. Haye really got to Klitschko to the point that the nice guy mask dropped for a few moments and we saw the dark side of Wlad that wants to hurt people, usually it takes Emanuel Steward screaming at him to bring it out.

Yes it was filmed around 6 weeks ago but these things have a way of burrowing into your consciousness and if Wlad makes the mistake of letting his anger take over during the fight he'll play right into Haye's counters and get knocked out. I like that Haye isn't respecting the champion, he wants those titles and isn't there for just a payday.

It was a fairly intense face off, got to say from a viewers perspective Haye won the war of words, though honestly I don't think Wlad really cares too much about the trash talk and hype, I got the sense Wlad is just quietly containing himself and just wants to get it on, he knows he's lost the verbal side of things but will get his on fight night, I think Wlad is deep down very confident of dominating Haye and all this trash talk is doing more or less nothing.

The fight itself has anti climax written all over it, I am excited about it and don't really mind who wins, but I just think we need to ignore Haye's talk to keep a level headed viewpoint for the fight, its easy to get sucked in by hype.

One thing is, I don't think Haye is that big of a puncher at HW, not concussive, he scores knockdowns from being fast and other fighters not seeing it coming, but everyone at HW seems to have no problems getting back up and shaking it off pretty easily.

Another note is the guys that beat Wlad, Brewster and Sanders had one thing Haye doesn't and thats an Iron chin, fighters that have good chins don't have to be quite so hesitant, they can go in and rumble and take chances, everyone that respects Wlad's punch tries to box and loses...

Back to the OP, brilliant face off i loved it, again and its just my opinion but io honestly believe Wlad did REALLY not like some of the comments towards the end, composed himself right at the end, but he genuinely looked, as Haye said, like he was going to jump across the table and hit him.

Just want to get there now, god i can't wait

I agree with Gasman. I thought it worked well a bit uncomfortable at times but you are going to get that when you've got two people who hate each other and can't wait to beat the crap out of each other swear words are going to happen.

Er...wrong on both counts.

I saw sanders chinned by Nate Tubbs in 2 rounds and dropped by Garing lane and also quite a few others. (Rahman etc)

Haye clearly won the war of words here.... However, I believe that this was filmed before all the press conferences and before Haye's refusal to do a similar thing on Sky. So he might have rattled Klitchsko - but only momentarily.
