BBBofC Who what where ????

Post by damianhucker1 »

Just following on from a post i made in another thread .

Who put the BBBoC in charge of british boxing , who said they have the power to singularly rule the sport in this country , and why and when was this decided .

Finally if for example Sky decided to form their own body ala UFC , BBBoC of course would consider bouts between sky fighters to be unlicensed , but why , wheres the rule saying no one else can form an organisation to rival the BBBoC

I know they do a better job of running things than many countries appointed head of boxing , but just wondering exactly why these things are in place .

Cheers .

EBF probably cover the largest area and therfor most well known but there far from the best in the white collar scene , there run by promotors that think there modern day Krays and such like , they are the stereotype for "unlicensed" boxing in my opinion .

Its my belief that the best run one is the WCBC down south but they only operate in their own corner of the world and from what i can gather are quite money motivated , Billy Bessey would know more than me about that particular organisation im sure as there nearer to his neck of the woods .

Problem is white collar promotors want to do things their way , thats in the main why they do white collar and not pro , and while that could be a basis for a new rival board i dont think they would be flexible enough to do so , i believe a rival board would have to be organised by someone from a pro background , maybe a promotor , someone that people will listen to so that they can march upwards as an organisation , and knows the pro game well .

If the Chairman has been caught out lying so badly a good start internally would be to sack him.
A few tweaks need making to the board to make it a level playing field and then it would be fine.

The figure head at the moment looks and talks like a bafoon in my opinion.

I thought FW tried to start a rival to the board a few years back and it failed? Maybe wrong

The BBBoC may have it's faults, and it is easy to pick holes in any organisation, but it is still the best in the world and to mention any of these other organisation within Britain in the same sentance is laughable

I agree 100%
I agree 200 per cent. They need a more democratic set up that's all but do a fantastic job otherwise.

That's the key - they need to be electable and accountable but it's ridiculous to suggest they could be replaced by the groups mentioned. Are they electable and accountable? Don't think so. The Board just needs to move with the times and give more respect and consideration to its members.

Very dangerous and it makes me cringe that other bodies could spring up and claim to govern the sport.
We already have too many titles, why would anyone want more governing bodies unless it's to line their own pockets.

i agree, the only thing i like about these white collar organisations is the fact anyone can fight. i may never have a boxing bout but if i did. given that i've never done any combat sports other than trainning i may never be able to have a pro fight

i think some of you maybe misunderstood my original post , no one has suggested the mentioned unlicensed organisations as replacements to the board , and i also did say originally that the bbboc are run better than boxing is in most countries , my question was who decided the bbboc had the sole right to boxing in this country , and why and when , and is it possible that a rival could feasibly be created , for example i do my white collar shows (which oliver i will point that like pretty much any other promotor ive come across , i do provide medical staff etc ) whats to say a guy boxing on a white collar show that declares itself pro , with proper brain scans and rules and regs , judges and other officials etc etc , why should the bbboc have the right to monopolise boxing in this country and declare those fights unlicensed , its shocking that they can decide what fights should count even though there is more miss matches etc on pro shows than there is anywhere else , all im pointing to is if someone started a new board , to run alongside the bbboc , not replace them , why cant the board just accept that and get on with it , after all they deal with foreign boards on a regular basis when latvian lemmings etc get brought over to be sparked or for world title bouts , surely dealing with another body would be no different .
The downside would be another british title , but in all fairness everyone and there mum would know the lonsdale belt is the real british title .

Entirely self appointed since it's formation Damian. It only runs boxing because its members allow it to, which is why it should be electable and accountable.

But things are changing hopefully so they will have to be accountable to it's members

if you did have other organisations then boxers will not be able to be monitored properly and say a boxer gets knocked out and is out for 28 days under the boards rules he could then just go and box the next day on another organisations show and that could create massive problems if anything fatal happened

although surely any organisation worth doing anything with would also enforce that rule , even if it was just for their own protection ,

Can you imagine the EBF (choose your own alphabelt initials) version of the British title

And the bbbc version of the British title. :witzend: :witzend: :witzend: :witzend: :witzend:

I think Allegedly wanted threatened o set up a rival organisation only because he was being refused a license largely due to the cartel that existed in British boxing at that time with Duff and Co. who held great influence.

It was more of a threat that a genuine attempt to breakaway just as a way to get a promoters license
