RE looping shots i think Haye needs to watch it. he gets excited and puts himself in danger of hand damage/point deductions with wild wide swinging stuff CF Ruiz Barrett and the Audley 'finish'.
He didn't even get a chance to do that. Hearns looked like he was actually debating on touching gloves only for Hagler to get straight into it and wing a head shot. Tommy was within range by this point and started with short lefts and the jab he did left off was half cocked to be fair. Then he landed the uppercut etc. and the rest is history as he was well and truly in Hagler's alley by this point.

That sounds awfully trashy, but you get me drift.

Hearns tried to get on the jab early in the second but his legs were wobbly, damn that massage, and he couldn't get behind it properly. Tommy had more joy with the shorter shots at times because Hagler well and truly played him prior to the fight.

Haye needs some 'WAR' hats and grammatically incorrect slogans, I can help him on both counts :OhYes:

I count even count how many low blows Hagler threw in that first round.

Haye won't engage until Wlad throws that jab, then Haye's speedy, looping right will end it.

... and what if Wlad intends to wait for Haye to throw the 1st punch to counter him??

then we`ll have a re-run of the valuev snoozefest all over again..

Haye won`t get a gift decision against Wlad as he did against Valuev for doing next to nothing. He is the one making the big noises, he is the one threatening to do big things ... so any dull, slow moments in the fight will be seen very much down to Haye by the crowd ... those rounds he won`t be getting.

This is great, isn't it! So many logical arguments, nice breakdown Ed! It's taken me a while to warm to this fight, they cried wolf too often before. But it's grabbed me now they seem as though they're really going to do it. Absolutely no safe bet in this fight, edge of your seat stuff.

Haye is far more patient, IMO. He'd have waited all night for Macca and Audley to come forward, if only a little bit. Haye is quite the counter puncher. Wlad's also the home fighter, so I believe if nothing happens in the first 2 rounds, then more pressure will be on Wlad to edge forward with that jab. Then Haye will end it.

I have looked forward to this fight for YEARS, and before last night, I was surprisngly relaxed towards it. Now I have butterflies thinking about it and am soooooo fricken' pumped. Maybe because I watched that face-off thing last night?

one of the big knocks against Wlad is that he fights safety first .. he certainly won`t be rushing into anything , thats a guarantee in this fight.

It's going to be an anti-clamatic fight. No worries there. If the casual expects something amazing then they're going to be disappointed. To me, it comes down to whether Haye has the skill to land that right-hand. It'll be a tough-task but I am 100% sure he can do just that.

davie wrote:the most noticable thing that i took from that video is about 7.30 in haye starts talking about vitali and the interviewer mentions that it seems to get to wlad and wlad just can't speak, he can't reply as he is so angry.

that is exactly what david is trying to do, to get wlad riled, as an irrational wlad in the ring won't work, he's methodical, accurate and patient in a ring. if haye can come out and say something to vitalli as he walks in the ring and gets wlad angry i think he can really disrupt his game plan.

then again, wlad might get pissed and just start swinging and knockhim out
Great suggestion.

what do you make of the HBO face off between the 2 Glyn? I left on my computer last night and Mrs Bigmark watched it this morning and now seems more hyped about the fight than me
Not seen yet Mark, won't be on a computer til tomorrow. Sounds good though. Missuses are good yardsticks to a fight's popularity. Mine loves Klitschko entrances, bless.

I heard that Wlad likes to watch Downfall and listen to Frankie Teardrop by Suicide in his dressing room before fights.
Vitali prefers Nosferatu and Hamburger Lady by Throbbing Gristle.

Does anyone think the Sanders fight gives an insight?-I mean Sanders pretty much destroyed Wlad with speed and i don't think he has been in with anyone like that since.

Think there was a massive surprise factor there for everyone Terminator, Haye won't have that advantage.

I'm still surprised that most people held this opinion. I guess people bought into the Haye hype. As I said, he was always going to try to outbox him over the distance

Er, Haye didn't try to outbox Wlad over the distance. Haye was trying to land a big shot. That was his plan. He just couldn't get close enough.

:TU: He was going for the knockout - he said himself that he never thought he would win on points.

haye tried to fight on the outside and land counters. he was trying to outbox wlad but didn't try hard enough. his entire strategy wasn't to land one big shot. most people thought he was going to go after wlad when it couldnt have been more clearer that he was going to move and try to win the fight on the backfoot
