Anyone got information on David Bailey (particularly any amateur highlights/info)?

Looks like he's the sacrificial lamb for Khan's pro debut.

He's a superfeather for a start. Seems Khan will be getting the same diet of little blokes they have been giving Mitchell.

Bailey is a game lad, he's been unlucky on a couple of occasions that I have seen him. Weird first fight for Amir in my opinion David is non stop from the first bell, he was being touted for a shot at the Southern Area title against Kevin Mitchell and now this.

Khan will probably have a big weight advantage though

What weight is Khan fighting at? I'd put him at 135/130, he looks very small compared to Hatton/Witter etc.

FW cant be that confident in khan's abilitys by selecting this opponent.

This is the start!, were going to see a long list of losers placed before Amir.
Why cant FW put Khan in against someone who's 2-0 or 3-0, we hear all the talk about Khan being the next superstar in boxing but he gets to fight Bailey.

But be honest, that never happens these days, especially in the UK does it? Khan will be built slowly and carefully against the least-threatening opponents suitable for that stage of his career, particularly as there is all the time in the world to play with. I'm sure FW will be wanting to turn Khan into another Ricky Hatton in terms of fanbase and commercial appeal.

This is the way boxing works especially at Sports Network, he'll get a fair few of these type fights especially if he is a ticket seller

Let's be sensible here. Khan not only has no pro experience, he has very little experience even as an amateur, at least as a senior. The amateur sport these days is also not what it was, the depth of talent is not that impressive with most of the best talent turning professional early, it's been diluted.

Khan has a huge amount to learn, putting him in with an ambitious unbeaten fighter in his first fight would be a big mistake as he could just get his head knocked off.

agreed im not huge fan of Khans but the guy is making his debut, as with all "star" pro debuts it will be agianst someone expected to fall over.

there is nothing bad or negative in this comment, its completely normal and expected, I dont think its fair to criticise the quality of an opponent on a debut to be honest unless its dangerously bad. (i.e the opponent might get seriously hurt) which i dont think is the case here.

no complaints from me.

Bailey sounds agressive and fit and should make Amir work.

It sounds reasonable enough for Khan's debut but I am concerned about the weight issue from Bailey's point of view.

nor from me, I would say bailey looks more like a gutsy trial horse rather than a fallover guy though.

Which is good as far as Khan is concerned.
