Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Carl Johanson he beat Ricky Burns now world champ, gave Kevin Mitchell a good fight and also Gary Sykes.
Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Gavin Rees - He gets no credit, Former WBA welterweight champion, beat 3 good fighters in prizefighter and has had a couple of cracking wins lately (Watson and Murray)

Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Matthew Hatton, based on the performance he gave against the bigger Alvarez , and what Alvarez did to Ryan Rhodes.
Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Love watching Rees, he's like the tazmanian devil. He did get a bit gassed in his last two, and he needs to sort that out.yid14 wrote:Gavin Rees - He gets no credit, Former WBA welterweight champion, beat 3 good fighters in prizefighter and has had a couple of cracking wins lately (Watson and Murray)
I hope he gets another world title shot, and he's in a good stable for that, but on the world scene its pretty stacked at lightweight and light welter. I really want see him in against Murray (but i shouldn't think allegedly does).

Great shout with Rees, deserves to be mentioned with Mitchell, Murray, Katsidis (Fringe World) but instead people are saying Crolla, Limond, McAllister. Craig Watson always seems to be underrated (and when people were starting to rate him higher and become aware of
Him he goes and gets himself KO'd!)

Gavin rees for 6 rounds look world class then he becomes British standard. If he could keep that up he would not be underated.alexpaterson wrote:Great shout with Rees, deserves to be mentioned with Mitchell, Murray, Katsidis (Fringe World) but instead people are saying Crolla, Limond, McAllister. Agreed

X 4 Matthew Hatton.
+ Afolabi doesn’t seem to get a lot of regard, neither does Terry Dunstan.

Id go with Gavin Rees also. Others i can identify are Adnan Amar who is pretty slick. Tony Doherty when he actually boxes, Jason Booth doesnt get due credit sometimes. Surely Michael Jennings is under rated too.
Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Ola Afolabi
Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
afolabi doesnt really count as a uk fighter does he? i know born in london, but based in usa and germany, not for me.
Matt Hatton and Crolla are great shouts, plus Prince Arron for me

Re: most under-rated current uk fighter
Joe Murray (probably because he hasn't had the TV exposure of the other Olympians) is a good shout. Every time I've seen him in person or on TV I thought he was class.

1. Most people didn't think that Hatton would last the distance, but he did.
2. Many people didn’t think that Hatton would make it past the halfway point, but he did.
3. Alvarez is one of the best fighters in the world at 154 and was much heavier than Hatton, who usually fights at 147.
4. It was considered a foregone conclusion that Rhodes would give Canelo a tougher fight than Hatton did, but Hatton arguably had more success against the young Mexican.
Hatton's most recent performance exceeded everyone's expectations, and I think that he gained a bit of respect as a result. However, it seems to me that a lot of people still don't think that he is anything more than a domestic level fighter. I see a significant discordance between how good people think Hatton is, and how good he actually is.
