I haven't heard one word about the U.S. team. Most likely newer people, since all our Olympians, except Rau'Shee Warren and Ron Siler, turned pro. I'll post when I find out.

What country are you from?

Going to jail.

It will be interesting to see if our #1 ranked boxers, as you have selected, will get the nod. Many times our team depends on who can go at the time of the event - school, work, and other events often impinge on our selections. I would hope we send our #1's but we'll have to wait and see.

Busted selling crack. It's a real shame and a real waste. I had a long talk with him at the U.S. Championships this year and he really seemed to have matured and to be on track. You just never know.

Look out for Khedafi Djelkher from France. Talented pressure fighter who would/will make a fearsome pro. Inexperenced but very talented. Also Alexey Tischenko from Russia, gold medalist and another who would make a great pro. Also if Germany are participating look out for Vitaly Tajbert. Terrific and hard hitting counter puncher, unlucky in the Olympics. Pissed that he hasn't seemed to turn pro yet, he won bronze but was good enough for gold imo. All three of these guys just happen to be in the same division, 57KG.

Ah, so they do....
Seems Cuba have a problem resolving their 91+ entrant anyway, they seem very keen for Solis to beat Lopez, but it doesn't seem to happen.

Looks to be one to watch :TU:
Seriously, are there any future stars on the team? Interesting to see how much Raushee Warren has developed. He seemed very talented when I saw him last year.

Most of the boxers going on this trip are unknowns when it comes to internationak competition. Rau'shee Warren is, as always, lightening fast and hard to hit; Gary Russell and Mark Davis are definitely up-and-comers; Karl Dargan has quite a bit of experience; Shawn Estrada could do well if he behaves himself (has a habit of getting DQ'd for stupid things). It will be very interesting to see how this team makes out.

No - he's actually Patrick's brother. The Estrada's are from Southern California.

Mel,

I was at the US championships as a coach with Demetrius Andrade. Missed the gloves, but his dad was able to go, as long as one of us is there we always do well. He just left for Russia, neither myself nor his dad is going to this one though. He knows what to do though.....has been doing it since he was 8

Nice to meet you. :D I was the computer tech on the middle ring during the prelims and on the ring closest to the gym doors for the finals. Elderly lady with short white hair and glasses. Haven't had a chance to get to know Demetrius but have heard good things about him. Hope to see more of him in the next 4 years. Hope to meet you, too.
