Re: US Nationals 2011 results
Wow, that is a big upset with '08 Olympian Raynell Williams losing. I never heard of Christopher Bell. Has he done much in the past?
Re: US Nationals 2011 results
This is definitely the year of upsets both #1 141 & 165 pounder lost earlier...

Re: US Nationals 2011 results
Raynell has had some tough fights in the WSB included a TKO loss. I watched almost all of the TV bouts and it was a really tough league for our US amateurs.JMac wrote:Wow, that is a big upset with '08 Olympian Raynell Williams losing. I never heard of Christopher Bell. Has he done much in the past?

so are the top guys getting outworked due to new scoring system?
Re: US Nationals 2011 results
No, they are just getting outworked.champion wrote:so are the top guys getting outworked due to new scoring system?
I don't see much difference other than the fact that you don't see 5-4 scores anymore. Now they are 11-10 or something like that.

What happened to Kevin rivers I know he got stopped but how?
Re: US Nationals 2011 results
Stopped late in the 3rd. Ramirez is the class of 132, gave Rivers two standing 8 counts before the ref waved it off. Rivers is very talented, but since the 125 pound weight class was eliminated, he hasn't been able to be as efficient on his skill. He turned open at 119, I think maybe 132 is too big for him. Aleem beat him pretty good at 2010 GG as well.Dcgreatest wrote:What happened to Kevin rivers I know he got stopped but how?

Re: US Nationals 2011 results
Does anybody know what happened to Brett Rather at 201+? He won on tuesday but did not box yesterday in the quarters. He was a 2 time NCBA champ winning freshman and sophomore year. He's a beast and also plays fullback on the UNLV football team. He'll be a junior next season. He has decent boxing skills but is really strong. He'll make a good pro boxer if he goes that route.teasy24 wrote:Stopped late in the 3rd. Ramirez is the class of 132, gave Rivers two standing 8 counts before the ref waved it off. Re: US Nationals 2011 results
I thought he was a linebacker! Neat he plays football. I was just looking him up, not much to do right now just getting ready for the semis, found video of the fight.

Re: US Nationals 2011 results
He could be a linebacker but I thought he is a fullback. I don't remember now what he told me. Anyway, from what I could see on the video, the camera was pretty jumpy, it was close but I thought Rather won. That's boxing.teasy24 wrote:I thought he was a linebacker! Neat he plays football. Re: US Nationals 2011 results
I've never seen it come out ever. That's a crappy way to lose but I told him we are going to get a custom one next week!! That really sucks but those are the rules and you have to learn from all experiences. This was a new one though.T Duquette wrote:Mike Reed got dq'd for losing his mouthpiece 4 times. Re: US Nationals 2011 results
If his mouthpiece was just hanging out and did not come all the way out and the ref DQ'd him, that is BS, especially in the semi's. Yeah he needs a better mp but DQ...that's wrong. Like I said, ref's think people came to see them. It drives me crazy when they do that crap.DCAmateurBoxing wrote:I've never seen it come out ever.
