yes, I thought they were harsh as well but he lost his form and composure and stopped controlling the fight after he got put down.ApolloCreed wrote:Eh no... Egan had two points harshly deducted. It's was a close fight in the seniors and Egan was handling easy enough until Ward bulled through him and Egan fell apart.

Is it just me or is the sound quality shocking?
Re: European Championships (amateurs)
Selby from Wales is on now.
Re: European Championships (amateurs)
Selby looking quality against an experienced opponent - Silver medallist from Beijing.
Re: European Championships (amateurs)
Selby takes it 13-10.
Good to see amateur judges still ignoring clear bodyshots.
Selby was only up 6-5 after two rounds, he landed more bodyshots than that alone.

That Azerbaijan national anthem was something else. I'll be cheering them on during that jamboree in London next year just to hear that tune belting out across the Olympic arenas.

joe ward beats ivanov
Re: European Championships (amateurs)
It was 5-5 after first round although I thought our lad should have had nicked it, Stalker was throwing a lot more but not landing often. Moylette outboxed Stalker in the second, 7-3. Third round was probably a bit wide at 6-2 although Moylette did enough to win the round. 18-10 at the end. Fantastic performance from the Irish lad.jBacca wrote:How did the Stalker fight pan out? Great to see Joe Ward picking up gold at only 18 years old. The Russian was bombing forward but couldn't land anything clean and Ward was picking him off nicely.

You're right Tommy. I was a bit sceptical going into these championships as to weather GB boys would do well, but looks like the younger lads are showing themselves to be developing nicely for 2012.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:Hes done fantastic these Euros...Khalid Yafai was looking a definite for the Olympics&is on some advert about 2012,Selby keeps this up&will surely get a chance in the qualifiers before Yafai&rightly so...Well done Joe Ward excellent for such a young guydbf wrote:Crikey, well done Selby.
Re: European Championships (amateurs)
take it this is same charlier edwards who channel 4 done a programme on years ago?? his dad was obsessed with the boxing and had turned the house into a full gym , ring in garden, sauna in bedroom, had led to his mum leaving?? the dedection was scary.jBacca wrote:Tommy Stalker up at light-welter is through to the semi's after beating last years bronze medalist, and then topping that off by beating last year's gold medalist in the quarters.
Recent flyweight ABA champ, Charlie Edwards, is also through to the semis beating former a former two-time medalist. Good on the 18 year old in his first senior international comp.
Ireland's Ray Moylette is through also.
Anyone got any more results?
