Kirby charged in as usual and walked into a stiff right hand that set him back on his heels. Meehan took advantage of that and belted Michael around the head until the referee stopped it. I don't think the ref had a choice. Michael was looking at a serious hiding if it kept going. He was copping punches and unable to throw anything back. Game boy Michael, but out-muscled on the night.

Rhino you are a champ. That uppercut was HUGE , the shot before it was huge. The follow ups were brutal. Can understand how gutted you were but despite the disappointment your were at the end gracious in defeat. Such is the brutality of boxing and the old addage that a fight can change in just a second. Although the fight was short you still had Kali puffing. And Kali was gracious in victory. Reckon he would have been one relieved bloke.

Did loathe the stupidest comment ever made by one of the commentators re redneck. What a tool.

Anwyay looking forward to your next one. All the best mate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :box: :box: :box:

ref did the right thing, michael could have been seriously hurt in a very short time, meehan was a step to far, i think kirby will improve , i would like to see him trim down an d straighten that left hand up,Brute you called the shot in one of your early posts, all the best

Nah mate. I reckon Kirby would've been licking the canvas within next 15 seconds

I had to watch it with no sound, no standing 8?

I don't like it. Explains as well why he didn't I guess, I thought at the time he should've at least started a count to see what happens.

Big shots eaten though.

Kali was throwing very hard punches and Kirby was hurt and failing to defend himself. I agree with the sentiments that a standing 8 would've been appropriate in this circumstance, but since there was no standing 8 in effect, the referee made the right decision.

The general rule is when a boxer cannot defend himself the referee should stop the fight. It isn't the Coliseum.

That is true, the referee gives the instructions "defend yourselves at all times" and when a fighter is getting hit hard without answering back, the referee must stop the fight, or apply a count if the rules permit.

Just looked at some of the world ratings. The IBF has Kali at no 8, the WBA has him at 11.

I suppose it depends on what time of day you looked at the ratings. They are a movable feast.
