Sturm-DeLaHoya or Sturm-Macklin?

For me, Sturm-DeLaHoya was not even close, yet Oscar got 115-113 on all three scorecards.

Tonight I felt a draw was fair, or Sturm by one. Macklin worked hard but going into the last round the shots landed were 139-131 in favour of Macklin, yet I felt most of the shots landed by Sturm were cleaner and harder.

Sturm by four rounds was harsh, but I don't think the overall decision is as bad as most are saying. In most cases the home fighter will get the benefit of the doubt - not just in Germany.

What happened tonight is not the same as what happened to Reid against Ottke.

Just seeing the punch stats from Sturm-DeLaHoya.

Sturm landed 234 of 541 (48%) compared to 188 of 792 (24%) for DeLaHoya.

I'd be interested in seeing the final punch stats for Sturm-Macklin, the % accuracy & the power punch stats.

I don't think Sturm-Macklin qualifies as a robbery, as it seems like many people thought the decision was fair. I haven't watched Sturm-Oscar in a while, so I can't say much about that fight at this moment.

I haven't watched DLH/Sturm since it was first on but from memory the answer to the question is DHL/Sturm by miles.

Sturm was getting out-worked by Macklin but he undeniably landed the cleaner, harder punches. From memory Sturm out landed DLH and landed the better punches.

It was funny watching Bernard Hopkins' reaction to the fight knowing his 20 million dollar match with DHL was on the line.

For me both fights were close, neither were robberies. I thought DLH pulled it out in later stages for a draw or to eek out a win..... how did Watt and Darke score that fight?

Its a global problem though, Germany is no worst than here. IMO this was a closer fight than Froch vs Dirrel.

i disagree, i think germany is by far the worst, closely followed by italy, i think the uk is alot more fair and the usa is fine theses days !

apart from zack page against dallas which the ref scored and not the judges, i cant think of many really bad decisions in the uk against foreigners recently !

Biasness aside - Injin Chi beat Michael Brodie in the first fight.... Glengoffe Johnson clearly beat Clinton Woods in their first fight, for my money Dirrell clearly beat Carl Froch in their fight. Apparently, Martin Power was ahead against Munyai in their first fight at the time of the stoppage.

I also think some of the cards for Joe Calzaghe fights didn't reflect the fight (e.g. the Brewer fight and the Kessler fight).

Can you think of many other scenario's in which it hasn't been a wide shut out for the British fighter against the foreigner? Although I do have to say Jamie McDonnell vs Jamonye was a very close fight in which I think the right man won.

Rendall Munroe's last fight was no way a 5 point margin.

I remember the Belgian or French guy mark thompson fought shooting off in disugust after dropping a decision over 6. he was going nuts. may have been Horta. What happened to mark anyway, did he have a nasty incident with a fight, or drugs, or something ? apologies to the lad if he didnt, memory isnt what it was.
