Harrison is definitely too tentative. If he was more assertive from the get go he'd be blowing these guys away in a couple of rounds.

I think with a bit more activity and ring fitness with it we might see him less cautious than he has been to date.

When he opened up against Davis and also Hersisia he looked the goods.

If the Internet (as we know it) had been around in the early 1970's I bet these same comments could have been made about Joe Bugner.

The pondering and waiting for his opponent to put his hands behind his head are Audrey's biggest problem at the moment, at least against opposition of this kind.

I had a dream a few days ago that he fought Shannon Briggs for the IBO title. However, this was on a space station and I was smoking triangular shaped cigarettes, so I can't guarantee 100% the precision of this vision. Havn't touched gouda since.

Well they were both always been accused of being too tentative and not being assertive enough.

Out of interest when did it become such a career disaster to lose an early fight? I think this is a relatively modern phenomenon, and it helps to explain the excessive cautiousness exhibited by guys like Harrison these days. In fact even more so for Harrison, because he has only one fighter in his stable!

Audleys first 18 opponents are better than virtually any other HW's first 18 opponents.

Look through his record again and tell me how he has been excessively cautious?

Find another Heavy other than Lennox Lewis with a better first 18 opponents?

Here are other HW prospects records, look at their first 18 oppo's

Calvin Brock

Samuel Peter

Dominick Guinn

Anybody who says that Audley has been over cautious is IMO just reciting what other people are saying without looking at the facts?

(admittedly it has took him a comparitively long time to have these 18 fights, but you can't fight if you are injured)

Hmm, that's not really the point I wanted to discuss. Forget Audley for the moment, but when did it become such a career disaster to lose a fight on the way to a title shot? Today it seems a fighter must not lose on the way up at all, or their commercial value is generally drastically reduced and their career derailed for a while. This seems to lead to a lot of no-risk movement to try and secure a title shot.

Well you obviously know the $$$ why, as for when that's a tough one.

When did Warren start out in the business?

And back to Audrey, I wholly agree with you Chambers, remove the absences due to injury and he's got a solid record. Ok Brock's had McLine but that's fight 20 something. Audley promises that by 20. And even for those who don't think his record is good enough (or not as good as Peter and Brocks) look what they're doing now - just treading water waiting for Klitchko to get through his 20-fight backlog, or Ruiz to beat Tyson's chiropodist. There is still time Audrey fight fans, oh yes.

YO!

Yeah definitely it's all about protecting that commercial value, but why did it come about that a loss is so very damaging to commercially value in the first place? A bad loss I can understand, but even a close loss to another prospect is unacceptable. Going back to Harrison, I read a Boxing Talk interview the other day where Samuel Peter flatly declines a fight with Harrison because there is nothing to gain. It seems a prospect will not fight prospect nowadays unless HBO are prepared to open their big cheque book.

Maybe the time is ripe for another HBO "Night of the young heavyweights" featuring Peter, Harrison, Brock, maybe even Valuev? They're not that young, but it would sort the men from the boys.

It's down to TV, all the money is tied up in TV these days. The days of people going every week to watch live boxing are long gone, especially in the states where even big title fights are often under full capacity.

Tv is interested only in unbeaten fighters, the exceptions of course being the likes of Gatti v Ward, but there aren't too many of those.
