"Tyson's youth did not prevent prevent his skills from deteriorating"?

GIVE ME A BREAK!

More like Tyson's lack of dedication, lack of training & partying...
Tyson still had considerable power but it seems that he lost the handspeed and movement he exhibited in his prime by the time he fought Douglas.
You don't 'lose' handspeed and movement when you're 24 unless you're sick, or were in an accident, or doping, or injured somehow...one doesn't 'naturally' slow down at that age, the way you might when you're 34...
and...he was in his prime for Douglas...not everyone goes undefeated in their prime! The vast majority of boxers lose fights 'in their prime'
Just because you lose a fight DOES NOT MEAN YOUR PRIME HAS ENDED!
Tyson still had all the skills during Douglas, and after Douglas...HE ALSO HAD FLAWS THAT WERE EXPOSED AND EXPLOITED BY DOUGLAS...IN HIS PRIME!!!!!!!!

Everybody seems to want to make excuses for 'poor Mike'...Mike was always in charge of his own destiny! Mike still had the skills up through the Holyfield fights...Mike turned out to be a big heartless puss...now that's why he lost, in his prime!

probably over 90 inches :o

Sweet Scientist. its not like douglas is a true all time great. he didnt exploit tysons flaws nor did he beat tyson. TYSON BEAT HIMSELF. HE DIDNT TRAIN HARD, NO MOTIVATION, DIDNT HAVE KEVIN ROONEY, AND WAS MENTALLY ILL. DOUGLAS WAS PROBABLY THE WORST OF ALL TYSON CHALLENGERS BESIDES TYRELL BIGGS

What really would have happened if Muhammad Ali faced Wilt Chamberlain?

Wilt has to be in the top 10 - 20 athletes of all time.

He was in tremendous shape, A world class weight lifter, 7'0 tall with a ridiculous reach and he wasn't a big clumsy giant either he was very agile, he holds his state high school record for the long jump and 100 meter dash.

I actually believe that he would've beaten Ali and when he did there would be lot's of giants boxing instead of playing basketball.

...obviously, he didn't have to be...which is why true all time greats would beat Tyson...
he didnt exploit tysons flaws nor did he beat tyson.
...actually, he did...but even if he didn't (which he did), what do you think that says about Tyson? All time champion calibre? No way...you can't name another heavyweight (considered to be an all time great) that didn't win a meaningful fight after age 24...

I noticed 'flaws' in Tyson when he fought Quick Tillis...Tillis couldn't exploit them...Douglas was able to...Tyson got frustrated and irratated when the guy in front of him wouldn't go down...later (against Holyfield) he would become completely unraveled (ear biting)...Is that the mark of an all time champion? Bite someone like a mad dog as soon as he realizes he can't win? You think Marciano would have done something like that? You think anybody other than Tyson would have done something like that?

Bringing his mental state into this has nothing to do with Tyson's fighting ability. OK he resorted to fighting dirty :TU: .

The question I am asking you is do you think that the same Mike Tyson that knocked out Michael Spinks wouldn't have done the same thing to buster Douglas?

The Spinks fight was no great accomplishment imo, Spinks was terrified before he even got in the ring and he didn't even try to win.

Ali would have slaughtered him.

Wilt was a great Athlete but Ali was a great BOXER.

Ok who had a better chin than Ali at Heavyweight and why?

As for myself I think Ali had one of the best chins on a Heavyweight ever.

He took shots off the likes of Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Lyle and Shavers and was never stopped.
