I'm not all the keen on Froch, but all the time he's mouthing off he's getting headlines, and that means publicity and the more publicity he gets the bigger the gates at his fights , meaning more money for himself.

Look at Floyd Mayweather v Gatti. All the mouth that Mayweather came out with before the fight he acknowledged straight after his win was just hot air to sell tickets.
Maybe Froch is doing the same thing, mind you Mayweather does back his words up in the ring.

I don't mind boxers being arrogant as long as they can back it up, Muhammad Ali is one of my heroes and you don't get more "Arrogant and disrespectful" than Ali. Alot of the arrogance is put on to gain public exposure and to build up rivalries with prospective opponents.

Carl is just playing the game, and personally I find him quite amusing, his quotes are pretty hilarious and if people cannot see that they are slightly tongue in cheek.

Carl wants headlines, and he's going the right way about it. I don't find him irritating as I don't think he's anywhere near as smug or complacent as his quotes would lead people to believe.

5. Joe Calzaghe: Another hypejob. Scared of flying and scared of top fighters. Content to sit at home and fight bums. The biggest disgrace in boxing today.

2. Junior Witter: A very confident fighter who can't wait to get a shot. Brings a tear to the eye when you think about the bad hand he has recieved in recent times but a man who says the right things and acts the right way outside the ring.

3. Carl Froch: Thought he was a tool at first but compared to Calzaghe he has turned into one of my most favourite fighters.

interesting point chambers made about ali. He was always talking smack but now everybody loves him but at the time ppl found him annoying, whilst others found him amusing. Talking smack sells tickets and fighters are rarely that brash in real life. Many a so called "grudge match" are just hype to sell tickets. I personally find carl froch well funny with his "tongue-incheek" humour as james put it and he's not over disrespectful. We would like to believe boxing is just a sport but the reality is its a busines as much as a sport so fighters have to generate as much publicity as they can to put "bums on seats." As for Froch, I used to hate him too. Specially when the BBC aired their little cobra cartoon. But now I too just see that he is playing the game and good luck to him. It gains interest and at the end of the day you need interest from the masses to make it in this sport.

Audley can be quite annoying, but only really cos he keeps spouting crap and then achieving basically nothing. I dont think he is malicious though.

It's funny how time changes things, because I too remember willing on the opponents of Eubank when his fights were live on ITV, yet nowadays I can't get enough of it - some of his posing is seriously funny. I think partly the reason why this is, is because of how his career tailed out with the Collins/Calzaghe/Thompson struggles.

The same can be said of Naz, to an extent. Though, to be honest, I look over some old video interviews with him and some of it still leaves a bad taste.

With regard Mayweather and the domestic violence issue: I had always thought there was a single incident with that, and also a single incident involving a club fracas - where he attempted to glass someone with a champagne bottle.

It wasn't until I watched an HBO documentary previewing the Gatti fight, that apparently he has a history of beating people up in multiple states - from one side of the US to the other!

Well I suppose many boxers are showmen and need to have an image to maintain, bad guy or whatever. With some of them however, you get the feeling that they are just like that all the time.

I love all of the trash talking leading up to a fight and it puts bums on seats but a lot of people get fed up with it once the fight is over. I stopped buying PPV Hamed events quite a while before MAB whooped him, just because he seemed like such a prick and never stopped talking out of his arse.

To people who follow boxing closley probaly don't take that much notice of trash talking, we know what looks like a good fight and will watch because of that.
People who don't follow boxing that closely may go to watch a fight because of the hype being caused by the boxers.
As has been said earlier boxing is a business at the end of the day, and being mouthy puts bums on seats.

I don't tend to take to much notice of all the talk before a match, its mostly hot air, except maybe Scott Harrison, he does seem genuine in his menace.
