The Problem with Todays Heavyweights......

Post by Rory McCloskey »

THERE FAT....look at joe louis, james braddock, jack dempsey, max baer, and gene tunney.. those fighers never weighed much over 200 if that...ali frazier and foreman were around 215..but they were cut..they trained hard..todays heavyweights are slow..they weigh over 220, some as high as 270...this is the problem..light heavyweights are the size of old heavyweights, but how many great boxers want to be remembered as light heavyweights...boxing needs a FAST exciting heavyweight who isnt gonna just defend the whole time and throw 2 punches every round... boxing is suffering cause these slow fat weak boxers are too lazy to go to the gym and train harder.. so what the heavyweights need is to stop showing up to the ring with fat rolls and love handles, and get some heart

Very true. And their conditioning is all wrong because they are not being conditioned by boxing trainers but by strength coaches and cardio coaches that have no boxing background. Which explains why these behemoths have no stamina and why there is so little damasge done by their arm punches. Bet Jameel McClin can play one hell of a game of beach volleyball though

WELL OUT OF ALL THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPS AND CONTENDERS TODAY (EXCLUDING TYSON, BOWE, HOLYFIELD) THEIR IS ONLY ONE UNDISPUTED CHAMP OUT OF ALL OF THOSE. THAT IS THE MAN WHO BEAT THE MAN WHO BEAT THE MAN....... HASIM RAHMAN EARNED RECOGNITION OF UNDISPUTED CHAMPION WEHEN HE KNOCKED OUT LENNOX LEWIS. I WOULD RATE HIM IN THE TOP 50 JUST FOR BEING AN UNDISPUTED CHAMP. WAS HE THE WORST UNDISPUTED CHAMP????
NO I FEEL HE WOULD HAVE BEAT LEON SPINKS AND GIVEN BUSTER DOUGLAS A GOOD FIGHT AND BEAT A FAT OUT OF SHAPE LAZY BUSTER.
