I went a to fight up the Gold Coast this was going back couple of years, anyway King Kava got stopped on his feet, no standing 8 count. They said in Queensland there is no standing 8 count. Well as for the WBF, can a sanctioning body over power a commission. Than does Queensland have commission? Does it going under the ANBF? If so does that mean in an Australian title fight there is no standing 8 count? Think about it loop wholes everywhere. I think Big rhino was in abit of trouble, no shame in that, most of us have been there, and look who he was up against, but just how much trouble? He is the one, that knows the real answer to that.
What loopholes Mark? Boxing in Qld is run under the jurisdiction of the ANBF Qld with the blessing of the State Govt. ANBF has a no standing 8 rule as does the WBF so neither were at odds with the other. In the event of a regional title, local officials are appointed by the local ruling authority and local rules are followed. All bets are off with a world title and that body's rules take sway. All parties are reminded of the rules by the referee in the dressing room before the contest

I just want to thank everyone for their words of encouragement and support. Some days it just doesn't go your way.I personally think the ref could have handled it a bit better, and I won't lie I was hurt, but the last time I checked the back of the head was a foul and a warning should have been issued, then fight continues, and if I get Ko'd so be it,we all know i'd rather be flat on my back with no doubts, than being stopped like that.kali was a big step up for me,I take nothing away from him,I just wanted to get into some later rounds to see what his real conditioning was,as wasn't he huff'n and puff'n after our exchange. The fight never really got started, even on the night from the other fights,it took some serious pummeling by opponents to get any sort of stoppage,I get hit 3 times and fight over,a bit weak imo.How pissed off was alex, love the support bro and all the lionheart brothers.I will say I didn't get to show what I had,he done his job brilliantly and congrads to him.I don't care who is in front of me for this aus title fight coming up,their finished!Thankyou everyone again,I will continue to shoot for the sky,put on some great fights and have no regrets with my boxing career!Cheers mik.
Good luck in your future, Mike. It just was not your night.

that's the life of a sportsman unfortunately. u train for so long for a fight that could be over in seconds.

just look at kali. he finally got a shot at brewsters title, having trained for years and years and then get screwed. and then get screwed for years while being poised for another chance while atop the rankings. and he's now over 40 and running out of time.

its funny that rhino could well learn from the guy who just spoiled his chance for some better fights.

Meehan offered to fight Valuev on May 30, 2009, when Valuev's fight with Chagaev was called off because of Chagaev's hepatitis, which seems to have changed to an ankle injury. All sorts of reasons were given for Universum refusing to let it go on. As there was already an undercard that went ahead none of the reasons seemed strong.

which imo, shows a fit and not-rusty kali meehan is a force for any of the top fighters. and given his age, i think it says plenty about the guys endurance in the sport. due to lack of getting these big fights, meehan has not been in too many wars, so that could be a big factor in him still being in contention at this stage.

any chance of the rhino meeting alex again?

i still think it would be a very tough night for alex.

A bout between Kali and Alex would be good way of seeing if Alex has the goods to take the next step in the rankings and earning potential.

But Kali is after a final showdown with David Tua with a pot of gold in the offering to see him out, so a match-up with Alex has little appeal.
