...so will likely delay his own entry to close the gap.

if i was a reighning champion who's had as many championship fights as some chumps had fight's id want to be entering second :!:
haye say's this story of his defences fat yanks etc. but he's fought audley :!: & then ruiz in his pipe & slippers.

I think the point of the original post is that, even though Haye comes out first, he will delay so that Wlad cannot delay as much. e.g. if Haye delays 30 mins, then Wlad won't be able to delay that much or the fight will only be on around Midnight.

Agree with this. Haye will be expecting and will be prepared for a delayed entrance by Wlad. Not that I would know what you'd do to pepare for a delayed entance...any ideas?

I don't really get the big deal about waiting. You're waiting before you do the ring walk.

He could just wear his hood up and listen to music or whatever. Or bounce off the ropes and shadow box, that's what most people do.

I agree, it's also an opportunity to get used to the atmosphere and surroundings. It's just a mental thing really. The guy in the ring may be left thinking "I'm ready to fight now but this guy is taking his time and fighting when he wants to fight". Haye will just need to remain calm and focussed, which I'm sure he will. He has to expect Wlad will take his time.

It even possibly had the reverse effect as it may have led Matt to think "If he's trying to out-psyche me by playing silly buggers with his entrance then he clearly feels he needs an artificial advantage which means he may be running scared". That kind of mindset may have prompted Matt to come out with more confidence and that was clearly evident in the opening rounds.

Good point, thought Macklin looked real calm while waiting fo Sturm and that is the mindset to have. If you're opponent is making you wait then it can be viewed as a sign of fear/weakness/doubt

I can see this happening. Haye plays by his own rules, and if it pisses Wlad off, he'll do it even more.

Presumably Haye's had the tipoff about Wlad's ringwalk because Wlad is planning something choreographed. If Wlad just planned to wait a while, he wouldn't leak the info. In which case, anything Haye does to delay won't affect Wlad at all and will just push the first bell back further.

I'd say criticisms of Wlad's opponents are more valid than Haye's. That's not to say I DO criticise Wlad himself - he's fought the best he could and it's not his fault the division is so dire. But because he's fought at heavyweight during such a time, he's been limited to the fat and old guys Haye talks about it.

As for Haye, the only one I could criticise him for really is Harrison, and even then you have to admit it made financial sense. Valuev was top 3 at the time, and Ruiz as mandatory was beyond Haye's choosing. And you can't find much fault with his cruiserweight days.
