What heavyweight boxing champion, in the year preceding the year in which he ascended to the throne, racked up victories in three straight fights against opponents with LOSING records???
No fair peeking at the record book.
(as if that was necessary )

ALI?
Great try!!!
WRONG.
It was just a swag. I knew he fought a number of no count fighters.
It was probably Marciano. God knows he fought a slew of scrubs on the way up. Evidently it was the type of competition that proves he would run Joe Frazier straight out of a ring.

Damn right Rocky Marciano runs Joe Frazier out the ring.
No, Irene, it was Marciano. Given who started this thread, who the heck else would it be? It seems to me our friend Yancey has a fixation on tearing down Marciano in the belief it somehow builds up Frazier.
The three fights he refers to happened in February-March 1951 before Rocky fought Layne and Louis. I know one of the fighters was Art Henri; I can't remember for sure the other two but I think one was Freddie Beshore.
Personally, I think Joe and Rocky were both ATGs. That's enough for me.

The only fixation I have is on the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God.
Cmon, a little honest give and take regarding two of the most fearless "no back steppin" fighters in history is purely fair game.
And the fact that has been thrown out in this case is surely something that would be bantered about against Ali or Frazier if they were guilty of such a thing. So it is what it is. A bit of info to chew on. That was an interesting era, and maybe the Rock's manager is to blame. Maybe we could just take those off the record and settle for 46 and 0? lol.
There was a time a few years ago when "Marciano fever" was virulently rampant on this board. Anyone who dared to do a "deficit inventory" on him was gutted and allowed to bleed out.
I just checked the record...turns out he's still undefeated.

Except, for Yancey, its always a "give" for Frazier and a "take" from Marciano. Sometimes I think Yancey grew up in Brockton, and Marciano stole his girlfriend.
