Perhaps its because I'm Scottish, and when I'm abroad supporting a British fighter I don't want to spend the night singing ingerland ingerland ingerland. quote]
yes, that may well be a factor.

German birds are better than English? Difficult to say because I've never been but the few German girls I've ran into in my time should have been wearing leads.

Re: Haye V Klitschko - The Weigh-in
I've just watched bits of it back and i thought he looked a bit tense. At the stare down he seemed to have one of those blank impressions on his face where he was trying to think of anything to make him look a bit intense rather than actually staring Haye downcharlieb wrote:I must've completely misread the footage.![]()
Wlad looked very tense to me, uncomfortably so in the staredown, while Haye looked super confident from top to bottom, not one audible frog in his throat when interviewed, held his stare with ease, had a swagger about him.
I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad sign. I've never really analysed any of Wlad's weigh-ins before this fight so I've no idea how to interpret his demeanour.
They both look to be in perfect nick and the size difference really didn't appear to be that big in Wlad's favour, this is going to be very interesting. I cannot fu*king wait for this one.
Re: The 'who are you' chants have started...
That's a shame then, given that I've been to see English fighters abroad in the past and not had to sing England football songs all night. It's a relatively recent phenomenon that all the football fans who don't watch much boxing started going to the big fights abroad and brought that atmosphere (complete with heavily booing national anthems etc).Counter-puncher wrote:mkirkhope wrote:

David Haye himself has also stressed how thankful he is for the support he gets from 'all corners of the UK' (and there will be plenty people in Hamburg to support him from all over the UK).
I don't see why people can't support the actual boxer ('there's only one david haye' etc) rather than singing songs about world war 2 or england football songs. In the same way I wouldn't expect anyone from England supporting Andy Murray to enjoy chanting tartan army songs.

Listen, you carry on with your pseudo-politically correct 'right on' bollocks all you like.MachoMan09 wrote: l. The British managed to be on the winning side in WW2 thanks to the Soviet Union and the US
m. etc
The latter part of the statement is of course correct but your phrasing of the first bit does a disservice to the hundreds of thousands of people who 'managed' to lay down their lives fighting for some of the freedoms you so willingly dismiss by saying England has nothing to shout about.
Given your military background, and your obvious intelligence, I would have thought you could have come up with something less offensive than this.

Lots of others did also and they had nothing to do with the European bunfight that was going on - like the 2 million all volunteer Indian army for example that fought in all theatres - the largest volunteer army that has ever been assembled - it would be nice to say we stood on our own to defeat the boche but it wouldn't make it true.

No, me too. I'm a minor pudendum who still has complete faith in Haye treating us to the spectacle of Wlad crawling around the ring on all fours.Dioufy wrote:Chambers is the only pudendum apart from me, as I remember, who's confidence hasn't been shaken since this fight was made. Hear, hear. That's not what I'm saying at all. Yup, I was in the British army.
And I am a wop and a greaseball who knows boxing.
And the Falklands should either go back to the people we took it off or give them independence. Maintaining empires in this day and age is so...
