We move from a debate on who was champ (which you lost, predictably, to who I am, to getting in your, "last word" & shouting, "Don't bother replying, you're blocked."). Yeah. If Lennox wouldn't have had the rematch clause, there was a very good chance that Mike Tyson would have been the first guy Rahman defended against.

So say if Tyson gets the title shot in november 2001.... could he win and become a 3 time champ?

As sad as it is to say it truly is a toss-up. Tyson admitted in his documentary "Tyson" that he had stopped caring about Boxing in 1990. Mike's last noteworthy performance was in '91. Tyson always could end up knocking out someone and had an incredible chin.

Rahman would have probably taken the fight seriously and this gives him somewhat of an advantage because Mike would probably train two-three weeks for it.

I want to say Tyson would end up winning, but I really can't. That's sad.

I honestly think Tyson would have beaten Rahman. Rahman was chinny at times too. Facing a prime lewis was different to facing hasim rahman.

Tyson fought Neilson in October 2001... that was just before the Lewis-Rahman rematch.
Golota was still a decently regarded fighter in 2000.... though the fight ended a no-contest, Golota crumbled because Mike was too much for him. I still think Mike was capable of beating alot of contenders at that stage.

tyson was shot but in the first 4 rounds tyson kud knock him out and he would have been a 3 time champ in 96 he had 2 of of 3 belts in dnt class foreman as the champ cuz he ducked axel shutlz and tucker

I don't understand how you couldn't view Foreman as THE champ in 1996. Holyfield was the clear champ after the Bowe rematch. Moorer beat Holyfield, Foreman beats Moorer . .then he's the man. That's the way championships have worked since the days of Greece. Yeah it sucks Big George didn't want anymore challenges after winning the title and was ducking the likes of a shot Tony Tucker, but that doesn't mean he's still not the champ.

Tyson had the 'aura' of a champ when he came back b/c of his image as 'the baddest man on the planet' and so many people believed he would've KO'd Evander in 91 had they met (especially since Holyfield-Moorer and Holyfield-Bowe III were fresh in people's minds), so he was an 'uncrowned champ' . . .but that's all it was, perception. His titles off of Seldon and Bruno were the very definition of paper belts. Tyson-Holyfield I in 1996 was a great event but it didn't crown the HW champion of the world.

Yeah, it it came to a brawl, and Tyson trained properly for it and fancied it, he could've KO'd Rahman.

Tyson had nothing left in his locker to beat any fighter of consequence by 2001.

He was fine against the Julius Francis' & Lou Savareses of the world, but against a 2001 Rahman, he'd have had his jockstrap ironed & handed to him in a plastic bag.

Rahman by mid to late TKO.

I think the 2001 version of Mike Tyson beats Rahman fairly easily. 3rd or 4th round konckout.
