Rick Marquez record error

Post by ricky_old »

Rick Marquez, puertorican superfeatherweight, lost his first fight by disqualification. (Not by dec on 3 rounds as his record says) He hit Walter Cowans on the canvas and after winning every single round and was dq by referee Lo Bianco. Check the New York State Commission records for the 11/19/86 card on Richmond Hill. Promoter was Mr. Tommy Gallagher.

Although it won't make a big difference.
Its a shame and it still hurts there is no comment in the American Boxing Record Book to the fact that it was an unfair disqualification that was protested in the New York Attletic Commission and they said it was going to be changed to a "No Contest" 'later on'. I guess you have to become a star (Like Roy Jones' Olimpic Medal) for justice to be served. Although it won't make a big difference, at least the comment to the fact that all three judges had given me every single round (which can be verified) would soothe this 18 year old pain. ja ja. Thanks for taking the time to keep all those records straight. And keep up the good work.
Your friend, Ricky
