Klitschko offers rematch - post fight presser video link

Post by johnswan1 »

Due to toe-gate. Be interesting to hear the official word on this from the Haye camp.

This toe is giving David Haye a convenient get out clause.

For the life of me, I can't see what Haye can do differently to win.

It's a measure of how poor the division is that a newly vanquished & outclassed loser can get an immediate rematch, toe or not.

fornicating brilliant stuff from Wlad. I'm glad he didn't take the attitude of forgiving and forgetting Hayes actions beforehand and that he still seems to have a problem with him as a person.

It is very difficult listening to Haye not only blaming the toe, but also the referee, the judges and the fact that the fight was in Germany!

I think they should do it again.

There's nothing else going on in the heavyweight division.

Or Haye could go over to america and beat the shit out of Arreolla....or when Ademek loses to Vitali.

Agree. It's like in the world cup where people could cling to Lampards 'goal' vs Germany as a reason for the loss rather than simply accepting the winner was far better on the day.

If a rematch was given for a match where the loser only won maybe 3 rounds and didn't seem to want to throw a punch then our sport would become more of a laughing stock than it already is.

To be honest, I couldn't bear another six-months of hype for what would probably be another mismatch.

Ironically, if it wasn't for all the hype, (especially considering his supposed fragility) I believe that David Haye would be getting props for a decent showing against a much larger man.

I'm amazed that he actually managed to last 12 rounds and am very glad that he didn't, as I feared, get seriously hurt but I also think that he's pushed his luck about as far as it will carry him with regard to the Klitschko brothers.

the boy is hurting on that toe? did any fighter ever blame a title loss on a broken toe? top of my head i cant think of any? lots of fighters have problems with broken hands but a toe?

there hasnt been many champions who have not blamed their loss on something else - wlad once claimed his vaseline was doped. They wouldnt be champions if they thought people could beat them fairly.

toe or no toe. dvid haye was sleep walking into a points reverse. Terrible, after all the hype, he didnt go for broke. He said we would see something different and that wasn't the case. But to be fair to david, klitscho is an amazing fighter. The style looks so easy to counter. However in the ring it is a different story. His jab work brilliantly throughout the fight . Although there never looked like there would be a knock out (david hays chin was tested and passed), wlad was unspectacular, however boxed a smart fight and more than deserved the win.

I'd watch a rematch for sure.

I would definitely not for one moment be interested in all the pre-fight chat and shenanigans prior though whatsoever.

Haye cant retire on a win over Audley Harrison...can he ?

Manny Pacquaio once blamed a bad performance on the wrong pair of socks.

erm and Antonio Margarito blamed a bad performance on the loss of wraps.

I agree. The thing is, though, a lot of people put their reputations on the line by giving Haye the big build-up and turning an 80/20 into a 50/50. There is a chance that these people will attempt to salvage their reputations by buying into Toegate thus enabling a lame, duck excuse to morph into justification for the fact David was simply not up to the job.
So far though, Adam Booth doesn't seem to be one of them which is an encouraging sign. He was clearly frustrated and deflated with the result of the fight - which I believe is what motivated him into scolding the referee after the final bell - but there didn't seem to be any trace of denial in his overall appraisal of what went down and he was still adamant that Haye would retire in October. Still....I know what you mean, money and ego have the final say in high-stakes boxing more often than not.

REMATCH - HOW MUCH SHOULD HAYE GET?

Post by THE MESSIAH »

I toetally agree with those that say HAYE does not deserve a rematch, but if he got one what should he receive as a purse?

He has nothing to offer, he is just another fighter.

And with all due respect sir, you're just sounding like another gloater overindulging in vindication.

You professed that Haye wasn't as good as the hype suggested, you were right, enjoy.

There was no objection to the vile comments from HAYE against Valuev or the Wlad comments.

Degale was slaughtered and rightly so. Answer the POLL question but please no complaints about a thread you 'read'!

£350K or less I say.
