Haye-Klitschko ring walks

I love how the Germans do the ring entrances. The cheesy sets, the boxers working out and Vitali & Foreman reading the newspapers looked great and adds to the build up. I always wonder why the Yanks don't really go big on the walks though, it seems to be a European thing, but I've always felt it should be part of the show to build the anticipation.

But what a mess when Haye was walking to the ring. Fans jumping in all over the place and trying to slap him on the back of the head and get their mugs on camera. It was a disgrace. Perhaps the Germans are more used to people not behaving like animals at boxing matches? What is this obsession with people wanting to touch the boxer and get their faces on TV, it's bizarre. I'd have been happy to see one of those clowns sparked by security.

It's only a matter of time before a boxer gets injured by somebody throwing something or jolting them back by the arm or shoulder during a ring walk if this sort of thing is to continue. I was worried for Wlad after seeing what Haye had to walk through but it seemed he took a different route?

I agree about the entrances in Germany - love them. We are in a time where boxing events need everything they can do to attract the public and this helps.

But yea the fans grabbing Haye was crazy. I assume these were fans were part of the 'football crowd' from here and because they don't watch boxing they can't seem to work out that grabbing a guy who is trying to focus for the fight isn't helping him. Watt was talking about the lack of security but I think thats because most countries around the world could expect fans to show a basic level of behaviour.

The same fans were also throwing stuff at Wlad (looked like towels or programmes) on his way to the ring. Embarrassing.

I could start 20 threads on the way I feel about the football fans taking over these nights but I'll leave that for another time.

Foreman though walk in way too soon for Wlad. And was shooed away by Vitali. I was hoping Foreman put the smack down right then and there for Vitali shooing him away.

I was cringing when Haye was walking in, it looked like something bad was gonna kick off, also there was nowhere near enough of a fence to keep the fans away, I guess like someone else said Germans don't usually have to worry about such things.
