I know there has been a lot of talk about the sky sports panel on here before, but last night Jim Watt did my head in big time! He normally gets a fight very wrong (like Macklin) and also rarely gives any British fighters credit. Time to get Richie Woodhall into replace him I think.

Blasphemy! Watt was the guy who called Haye's tactics correctly before the fight. I scored it almost the same as him. Woodhall is a biased pundit, witness the Simpson-Smith fight!

I just don't think they should let him score a fight.

I like the way HBO score fights by having a retired and respected former Judge like Harold Ledermen do it and obviously he's somewhat of a character too so SKY should do the same.

Woodhall is an outstanding pundit and commentator I think.

Woodhall is the opposite imo - can score really in favour of the UK guy whereas Watt almost scores cautiously for the UK fighter.

Haye was terrible last night - was Watt meant to big him up or be biased towards him? I had same scorecard as Jim after six rounds: 6-0.

Watt was the only one of the Sky team that called it correctly, I actually got fed up of everyone else being so outrightly bias towards Haye, I know part of it is getting behind the guy because of nationality but these guys apart from Watt were just so bias in the lead up.

Agreed he gets very boring and very irritating to listen to, a very negative commentator, bit of a moaner. After a while he just spoils fights for me.

Haye always had a very slim chance of winning. The sky team tried to make out like it was a 50-50 fight, which is bullshit.

I hate cheerleading - call it like it is, I don't want jingoistic nationalism in sports commentary, ignore the nationalities, and lets talk about the realities of the two fighters involved. The buildup frankly irritated me.

Watt's assessment of the action was fine last night but this should in no way excuse his endless torrent of whingeing. Listening to him sucks all the drama and fun out of a fight.

Rawling was willing a bad decision.... and when Emmanuel Steward try to gee up Klitchsko by implying the fight was close - he actually said "well, maybe this fight is close" - it was as if he just didn't know how to score a fight.

What drama? What fun? There was nothing for Watt to suck from this fight. I was like watching someone hitting a speedball.

Rawling was willing a bad decision.... and when Emmanuel Steward try to gee up Klitchsko by implying the fight was close - he actually said "well, maybe this fight is close" - it was as if he just didn't know how to score a fight.

Utter rubbish. Steward was saying this to Klitschko, and Rawling was ensuring the viewers heard it. He was also reflecting what we all knew, namely that Haye had a puncher's chance. He scored the fight much the same as Watt from how I heard it. There is a difference between not knowing how to score a fight and trying to maintain interest for viewers. He clearly knew Haye was schooled.

i dont think it`s moaning mate it`s realism, i mean at one point in the fight rawling was saying american tv have it even and a few seconds later mentioned that the fight might be close.
years ago my dad mentioned how he used to stay up and listen to the radio commentary`s of british fighters fighting abroad in the 50`s, often the fights sounded close, usually ending with the british fighter either getting caught by a lucky shot when miles ahead or being robbed by the judges but when he watched the fights on the pathe news in the pictures the following week they were one sided beatdowns.
dont want television going down that road, especially when we can see it ourselves! it becomes a farce.

you guys are right watt is very cautious in scoring for british fighters......but all of you are missing the point.......watt is the last of a dying breed........he has been doing this for almost 30 years......he was trained on itv to be impartial and factual and fair with a ex boxers insight......a proffesional.......a proffesional sports commentator from the old school.......wheras the modern sky way has been for pundits/colour commentators to be unabashed cheerleaders for the local in house sky fighter.......whether u like watt or you dont..... the man is inscrutably full of integrity and decency........i like his style of commentary and his punditry.....the day he retires , given the partisan slant they want in their newer pundits i think sky will find it impossible to replace watt.....gary mason gawd rest his soul was the best pundit since watt.........

Come on CC - he called the performance "brave" before the toe revelation. On the Steward thing had that have been Ian Darke he would have called it like it was and said something like "surely thats just to gee up Klitchsko" instead of basically saying that MAYBE Watt/Sky are calling it wrong. He kept reverting to George Foreman's card and again insinuated that if Foreman is seeing it close, maybe it is close - it gave the impression that he didn't have a clue how to score it.
