Haye vs Bruno

Post by Duran Fan »

I'm sure the bookies would have this about evens.

I think at some point Haye gets him for the finish around the 5th round ala Tyson.

If Haye surprises me and beats Klitschko I'll probably favor him here vs the more robotic Bruno (who had an iffy beard himself), but I'll wait until 7/2 to make this prediction.

Big Frank struggles early on with Hayes' agility, but once Haye takes shots to the body he slumps to defeat in 6 rounds.

Haye would win 7 or 8 out of 10. Frank almost always put in a good performance but his weaknesses were obvious and Haye would be able to play to them without getting caught most of the time.

Bruno outboxes a tenative Haye easily, and holds on late to get decision.

Young Bruno gets beat, because Haye would take it to the later rounds and then finish him off.

Bruno that fought Lewis.... hmmm.... good question.

Bruno was probably a bit to upright and predictable for somebody quite as fast at the weight as Haye. However if bruno caught him clean it was goodnight David.

if they fought 10 times i'd expect DH to win 6-7

Are people serious in this thread?

Haye has only ever beaten Valuev and Ruiz - the Bruno that was beating Lewis would have smoked those two.

Frank was robotic, had iffy stamina.... but Haye isn't exactly the energiser bunny himself and his chin is a fair bit below Frank's level, stopped on his feet by Witherspoon, Tyson x2 and Lewis. A bit different to being stuck on his arse by Mormeck and Barrett I'm sure.

What advantages does Haye have in this fight, apart from speed and footwork?

He's less powerful, he's reasonably easy to hit, and his legs would probably desert him when pressured properly by someone that can't be so easily out-manoevred as Sugar Nikolay Valuev.

Bruno wins 8/9 out of 10 for me.

Too upright is the keyword here... plus Bruno didn't slip punches.

Haye would've probably caught Bruno first.

Well, after seeing that, I would predict Bruno by KO. Haye would probably be able to land some big shots early and stun Frank, who didn't have the best defense, but Bruno would be able to hold on due to David's sloppy follow-up and the fact that Haye would get tired trying to press his advantage. The rest of the fight would see Haye eating some big right hands and getting grinded down late.

Im sure this would fill any stadium in England and 90% would be there for big Frank. I feel though frank would do has he hs done in most of his fights, put up a robotic show and do good against Haye, but late on Haye would proberly KO our Frank.

After seeing the fight on Saturday, I see it the same way. I don't think Bruno could of taken the punches that Wlad took. Also I don't think Bruno would have the speed to land big on Haye if Haye used the same tactics as he did against Wlad.

Bruno would win Haye doesnt bring it like Tyson and Lewis does. Haye isn;t going to outbox Bruno, Lewis and Witherspoon could'nt do it how is Haye going to do it. Forget any talk about Bruno's chin its underated, Lewis Tyson, Bonecrusher and Witherspoon hit hard. Three of those heavyweights are in the top 30 of all time. Seriously Haye has does nothing to convince me he can beat Bruno.

I agree Bruno is often called chinny but he wasn't. His problem was he ran out of steam and didn't know what to do when he was hurt, he tended to just stand there instead of holding on. Also against Tyson he looked terrified so his confidence levels cold be called into account. Tyson hit him with some tremendous punches, and apart from the brief knockdown at the start of their first fight, Bruno stayed upright and took them all. Something fighters like Spinks, Williams, Berbick, Holmes etc.... couldn't. He was outboxing Lewis until being stopped, even Lewis couldn't deck him.

Bruno wouldn't have been scared of Haye, and Bruno would of had a huge weight and strength advantage. hard one to call, Bruno had a good jab and could outbox Haye, as long as he didn't run out of steam I could see Bruno winning.

Are you implying Wlad has a better chin than Bruno??? Bruno was only taken out by upper level comp and usually after he fatigued. Wlad has been dropped and stopped by much lower-level comp.

Haye is not a huge one-shot hitter at heavyweight . . even at cruiserweight he was more of an accumulation guy (vs guys who wern't tomato cans). Plus it seems like tons of his KOs/KDs were from shots to the side/back of the head, not to the chin (which says something about his accuracy as well). Bruno would outbox Haye and then be more aggressive than Klitschko to stop him in the later rounds.
