You cant blame Booth. Haye just wasn't good enough and never will be. Haye is a very good fighter, but he's well short of being a really special one. He has speed and power, but he's not a thinking fighter and his lack of ring intelligence was well and truly exposed.

And that's ok is it!! He was fighting for the biggest prize in sport. He should have gone out on his shield. Danny williams may have got battered by Vitali, but he left nothing in the locker. Haye accepted defeat far too readily for me, especially considering all the pre fight bullshit we had to endure about what he was going to do.

With regards to Booth and his methods, in a sport where so many tremendous professionals have come and gone surely people are going to learn that you can't reinvent the wheel.

I fear that Haye (under Booths egotistical tutorlege) is becoming like a latter day Naseem Hamed. Where improvement could be input, arrogance gets shoved in instead.

Let's not forget he was a gnats cock from dropping that decision to Valuev, I actually was sure NV was going to get the nod.

Booth will point to the Groves win over DeGale, and say there you go! Well not really, he beat a guy he'd already beat before, just.

I suspect Booth realises this, and he wants out more than Haye to protect his own self-perceived legacy.

It's not that Booth got it wrong, but the fight was cleary won and lost in the footwork department.

People assume that because Haye is fast, he has good footwork. When the reality is Haye has excellent upper body movement, but lacks the footwork of Klitschko.

Manny Steward and Wlad obviously worked on getting their feet right in there, taking any breathing space away from Haye, putting his feet square together so he struggled to set himself to attack. They obviously wondered why the jab was being so problematic for them in the corner breaks, having spent months working on it. But it was all down to the feet. The punches were the focus of Team Haye's mind, not downstairs.

Haye was tense, had no time to think and execute his game plan. He was wondering why he couldn't get his shots off, but he was contorted into tight spots by Wlad's footwork and couldn't spring himself in for the attack. Wlad got his feet right under the desk within 5 seconds of the opening bell and stuck with it, snake-charming him with the jab and keeping Haye square on so he couldn't generate the leverage.

Perhaps the oldest tactic in the book !

He should have been the one going forward and looking to apply pressure, his head movement was quite good and he slipped a lot of punches so why not do that on the front foot? imho he should have gone all out for an early knockout. Wlad is someone who gets rattled and falls apart when he is hurt, that's how all of his losses have occurred. There's no point moving all over the place and hoping that one of the 5 punches thrown in a fight will get him. The tactics he employed on sat should have been plan b or c, not plan a.

I can't believe that backing off all night long and resorting to the odd wild swing was Booth's pre fight tactics, I can only thing that Haye could not emotionally stand up to the occasion and stayed in his shell
