Why have people turned against Haye so quickly?

On a darker note, i think there's a lot of 'contributors' here who have never forgiven Haye for wearing the Turkish muslim flag and i'll leave it at that!

It's the Northern Cyprus flag, there's nothing muslim about it.

I think a lot of the detractors are not real fight fans.

This was a huge event & attracted the interest of people who've probably never even heard of Wladimir Klitschko.

A lot of people were attracted to this fight due to Haye's gum flapping & when he failed to deliver, then compounded that failure by flashing his Right little toe, it was all too much for some.

But what do you expect? If you're going to play with fire you have to accept the consequences. It's no different to the celebs who whore out their private lives in OK! for the publicity and then complain about intrusion of privacy when the tabloids uncover their grubby little secrets.
Haye made grandiose claims to the media, primarily for financial gain, so is hardly able to complain when those claims are 'exposed' by the same media.
To be fair, he seems less surprised than some of you guys.

You are quite frankly delusional on so many levels:
1) You make no reference in your original post to your statement of 'fact' being based on one judge's scorecard so don't be so utterly disingenuous by claiming "exactly" now.
2) I've been on here for a similar length of time and the idea that the level of dialogue has somehow diminished dramatically is also a rewriting of history on your part.
3) Finally, the inference that any negative comments regarding Haye constitute a vendetta and lack any substance or credibility merely makes a mockery of your claim that you like to discuss boxing in a constructive way and insults many posters who despite finding fault with Haye on Saturday are most definitely not lacking in intellect.

i aint got a beef with anyone here, just want to balance some of the negativity towards David which i think is unfair considering he's been very good for British Boxing over the years and he tried his best and came up short against Wladimir. Being realistic he had no business sharing a ring with either Klitschko considering he's never been more then a slighly blown up cruiserwieght and yes he talked the talk but never walked the walk as he himself said but in my eyes he did ok.

If we took away all his smack talk and Hype which probably would have mean't reducing the PPV sales by up to 50% and he'd been humble from the start and said how massive the task was and beating a Klitschko was next to impossible especially as he was just a small Heavyweight there would now be a differen't reflection on the fight saying how brave and plucky little Haye had been to last 12 rounds with the monster Klitschko.

Fair play mate. Believe it or not, but if you looked at some of my posts over the years you'll see I was a big Haye fan, but i just felt he's lost his way in the last couple of years - the Harrison fight, chasing the celebrity lifestyle and then the smack talk. Saturday was the straw that broke the camel's back I guess.
Ironically the reason we're all clashing and getting heated on here is because we all are genuine fans of the sport - if we weren't, we wouldn't be that bothered what happened either way

For me it's the manner of the defeat. Going into the last three rounds the corner and Haye both would have known that his only way of winning the fight would be by knockout.

At no stage did Haye put it all on the line. This was his opportunity to make history and become a unified heavyweight champion. It was he who built up all the hype about how he was the saviour of the division and was going to go in and blow out Wlad with his trademark Hayemakers. If he really put everything into those last few rounds and tried to get the win, his effort would have been considered heroic, even if it meant getting stopped himself.

And if the pre fight talk was not enough, the post fight talk was sickening. Since the defeat he has blamed the toe, the referee, the judges, the ring walk, the fact that the fight is in Germany. It's disgraceful. He seemed almost proud to stand with his broken toe on show, as if it somehow crossed out the defeat he had just suffered.

He should have been coming out apologising for his behaviour before the fight and thanking Wlad for the opportunity he gave him. He is delusional and these are the reasons why people have turned against him.
