Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
Surely i cant be the only one who has noticed the abolsutte clarity and intelligence punditry Carl Froch brings............Mcguigan was sadly at his bitchiest on Saturday night......I wish he would eliminate this reversion to his early 2000's complacent self when he would talk over other pundits and be patronising to them.....I hope Mcguigan nips it in the bud cos he has been great since he came back to sky lets not ruin it eh bazza.............getting back to froch, surely he has the makings of being the best ever pundit......his voice is almost posh!
Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
Thought Froch was great! Once he retires, he could do it full-time.
Didn't think Barry did anything wrong though personally. Oh well.

Frothy is a very intelligent guy. Speaks clearly and is a student of the game. Not only this but he done a sport science diploma at Loughborough which gives him knowledge of the psychology, anatomy, physiology, and all other aspects of the sport. He can delve into someone who looks big having the fast twitch muscle fibres that are explosive so essential for a power puncher. Frochy is pundit of the year

yep Froch was a revelation of boxing punditry it was a massive event and he showed no nerves he just flowed, Bazza could'nt get a word in edgways between him and Nelson desperately trying to bark over Froch. I found it a pretty amusing situation actually.

Agree with all the above. Just compare Froch's analysis to the rubbish Amir Khan spouts (that's not a dig at Khan the boxer, he's just obvioulsy not very intelligent) Nathan Cleverley is obviously intelligent, but just doesn't come across too well on TV either. Froch should be used in all future big fight broadcasts, he brings intelligence, experience and analysis to the production.

Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
not sure if it boils doen to intelligence.
but i know what you guys are syaing.
i just think he comes across more articulate than the others and that is what you need to be to be a good pundit.
it also helps that he has substance due to his knowledge and experience.
i enjoy listening to him in interviews and also teh super 6 stuff.
very blunt and honest in his assesment of his opponents its quite refreshing to me and if he loses etc it never seems to affect his status due to him fighting teh best.
you figh tteh best long and often eneough you are bound to lose some.
ask juan manual marquez, ask cotto , ask jermaine taylor etc...

He is much better than Barker, who is steadily getting worse and more banal with each broadcast. He looks like he's on tranquilisers and rarely seems to be paying attention.
Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
I didn't see it but I find Froch to be intelligent, articulate and very funny - sometimes without looking for laughs.
He actually listens to questions too and tries to answer them directly and honestly rather than 'chatting sh1t'.

Carl Froch is a very good pundit.Very articulate, informed and relaxed. He offers a lot of insight and I hope it becomes a regular thing for him.

He and Haye should open an organic farm together.

I too was very impressed with Carl Froch's performance as a pundit on Saturday night in Hamburg, he has more recent experience in the ring in comparison to Jim Watt ringside, and Barry McGuigan, Johnny Nelson and Lennox Lewis with whom he was sharing studio duties with. He was just so comfortable in front of the camera giving no BS whatsoever about what he thought was going to happen and when he was on Ringside talking about his last fight with Glencoffe Johnson and has a good line in humour when he described Nelson and presenter Adam Smith as "his guests" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-6tq0nXlyY
Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
The publishers should probably have let him read his own book first before publishing it then as it is littered with spelling mistakes and errors.kamicazze wrote:Frothy is a very intelligent guy. Done a complete 180 on Froch. Didn't like his attitude/style of fighting but have now come to realise that he is a true badass who has fought/will fight everyone worth knowing at SMW
And yes, i thought his punditry was very much on point on Saturday

Yep, add yet another to the Froch bandwagon - though he made me laugh with his 'alpha male' posture!
Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
LOL at him being clever cos he has a diploma in sports science. Guy's a donut.

Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
On the single occasion I interviewed Froch, he looked me right in the eye, and seemed to listen to every word I said, and then gave me cogent, clear answers. That sounds normal, but it's relatively rare amongst boxers.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:I didn't see it but I find Froch to be intelligent, articulate and very funny - sometimes without looking for laughs.

Being an Officer in the Navy I'v spent a lot of time with posh people. I can confirm Froch is in no way posh, the reason for this is because if he was posh, I'd fornicating hate him. Main reason I left the surface fleet for the submarine service was a lower ratio of toffs.mugabi wrote:his voice is almost posh!
Re: Carl Froch- TV Pundit Extraordinaire of the Future
froch is great now he's 'made it'
back in the day before he won the world title, every time he was on telly he always had to big himself up and take a dig at calzaghe
these days he just talks sense

yes thank you for that valuable insight.........
I think Froch could be the new Watt if only Sky ditch this terrrible cheerleading and growling and barking over each other they insist on in all their pundits except of course the regal watt....If FRoch has the grooming Watt had at ITV we will have an articulate, confident, reader of the game and someone who keeps his impartiality at all times.
THis banal cheerleading in the sky studio has to go.....they really have gone overboard with it in their attempt to copy the matey appeal and cult appeal of the now dead forever setanta bunces boxing hour which lets face it was low rent low level low grade crap which made boxing seem like a minority anorak sport......all the major sports have pundits with a degree of impartiality at the best of times, UFC, Football, Cricket and rugby.....of course football is getting worse when its an england international or a world cup, but by and large for example the BBC remain impartial on a match of the day programme

It's a fair point Froch now commands a fair amount of respect through performances, he's mixed and won against the top boys and his opinioncarries weight.whiteboy wrote:froch is great now he's 'made it'

Without that he speaks very well in front of a camera crew and on the spot which all in all is quality

Love that level of respect and insight regarding our best active fighter. Fortunately, you're clearly a minority of one.Gray-Fox wrote:Guy's a donut.
