FightScore+ scorecard app

Post by Mensa07 »

Hey fellas - apologies upfront for the spam(ish) topic, just wanted to give you a heads up on a new iphone app I'm releasing to the apple app store... FightScore+.

It's a web-enabled Boxing/MMA scorecard app.

It gives you a feed of current fights for you to score, or you can setup your own, if there's a local show or an undercard tv fight etc, which then becomes available for the rest of the world to score.

You can setup or join Groups, so you & your forum buddies can connect and you can see how your Group is scoring the fight, as you score it yourself.

It also gives you a Global aggregate scorecard, so you can see how everyone (thousands!) around the world are scoring the fight as a whole.

It's really easy to use, your scores are automatically uploaded to the web and it doesn't request any personal info, email addresses etc.

If you're at all interested or think it's a cool idea, reply or PM me and I'll let you know when I get the official release date back from apple.

Cheers guys.

sounds good to me, good idea.

Hopefully you get the users to make it worth using and a website version would definately be good aswell.

Obviously havent seen the app yet but think it would be good if users had a "Judge rating", so if i had scored my card the same as the majority of users on a regular basis then id have a higher rating. If i had scored completely different on several occasions then id have a lower rating etc..

Once you get it up and running you could approach sky aswell and if things were going well they could possibly use your stats on ringside to show the fans verdicts on disputed decisions etc. thats a long shot but its a good goal to aim for :TU:

that is my aim! I see it alongside Jim Watt's scorecard.. "and here's how the viewers at home are seeing it..."

incidentally if anyone knows anyone who knows anyone who knows anyone connected to sky sports, and they wouldn't mind being contacted, I'd appreciate the help!

Sounds a good idea, even better if you can get TV involved in it as well.

Got to get a new phone though.

This for me too.

Are you going to do an online version? I usually watch a lot of fights with the laptop on.
Same here. No iPhone to speak of, but I'd definitely give it a go on the lappy while I watch.

Cracking idea by the way.

Great idea.

Will the application have the ability to void certain users cards/ automatically remove cards way out of line?

Use of a mid range median type average, rather than a mean average would get the truest results imo. Some users would, undoubtedly, be scoring wrong. If fighter A clearly wins 10 - 9 would fighters B's nuthugging fans 10 - 5 scorecard be valid as part of the overall average?

Adding ''most common'' score might be a safeguard

Not as yet no it won't remove way off cards. I can do it manually if I'm monitoring, which I would be on the big fights.

Yeah I did have a think about the mean etc, if it really doesn't work with just the mean average I can change it easily enough. All that stuff is done outside the app, so no need for an update etc.

The lowest score you can go to is a 10-6. Yeah theres a risk of idiots messing it up, but I'm hoping the userbase will be large enough to drown them out with legit scores if you know what I mean.

thanks for the feedback!
