My Fight
Re: My Fight
Well in wee man. Thought you couldn't get a fight. Winning by 13, must have done well. Where was your fight?

A boy entered late so all came good in the end! Time Capsule, Coatbridge it was at, brilliant venue for it.

Re: My Fight
Cheers Alex, but I think you were my 95th bout in two days....I sure as hell should have got it right after all that practice.alexpaterson wrote:Thanks Craig, some top quality ring announcing!!
Nothing wrong with a bit of confidence mate, but try not to do it if you are in the GB's, the ref's will come down hard on italexpaterson wrote:I keep getting warned for the showboating but can seem to stop it haha.
Re: My Fight

reading the older posts it looks like you've come along way in the last couple of years or so, it just goes to show all the hard work you've put in is now paying off and it's nice to see a young man with so much dedication and ambition in a sport we all love! good luck for tomorrow and in the future!

Re: My Fight
Thanks, I actually think the 18 months I couldn't get a fight helped me a lot. I improved so much in that space!

Re: My Fight
Nice video mate,
Enjoyed the fight, some nice skills for a novice.
Couple of pointers:
You tended to drag your back leg, as opposed to having a spring, right heel slightly off the floor. Watch the video and study your feet, you just need to centre your balance a little.
Second, fully appreciate how amateur boxing has evolved and the scoring ethos, but your defence was largely your range and distance, in and out in straight lines. He punched, you stepped back, you punched...and so on. 3 primary forms of defence; movement and feet, blocks and parries, rolls and slips. Feet means you are constantly having to start again with range, hence throwing the same shots. Once you develop, you'll mix the defences, and when you pre-empt an attack, slip and screw, block and hook and hold your space.
it will come with experience mate, really enjoyed the vid.
Well done.
