141- not familiar with the fighters but I've heard good things about Robert Easter Jr. and Duran Caferro

152- I think Patrick Day and Amir Imam are on a crash course to fight each other...Imam has beaten Patrick before...Amir has fought some tough fighters to get to the semis...

165- Hard to pick against Luis Arias...

178- Robert Brant beat DeRae Crane, so I think he'll take it against Shaborn Royals...

I know most people come here just to get the scores, but I like to drop in as a casual observer of the heart of boxing just to see what's what and who's who.

I still don't get why there's not a "Final Four" type of televised event for boxing but I hope everyone keeps showing up at these kind of events until there is.

That said, it's interesting to see the makeup of the boxers at this pivotal tournament - almost nobody from S. Cal and huge representation from MD/D.C. area and Texas. And of course, there's always a disproportionate number of quality fighters from the Midwest.

Anyways, good luck to the fighters. I'm sure someone will get robbed and somebody will be telling stories about it.

Featherweights Joe Perez (Fountain, Colo.) and Isaac Torres (Mission, Texas) will face off in championship bout on Friday night. The duo both pulled out close decisions in their semifinal bouts with Perez winning a 26-24 victory over Carlos Chavez (Hollywood, Calif.) and Torres claiming a 22-21 win over Edwin Sandoval (Bakersfield, Calif.).

Out of all the 17 and 18 year old talent that was in the 123 lb division, it comes dow to the 20 year old vets, Perez and Torres. Nice to see them show when the ams get tough, don't run to the pros, just work harder.

114) If Delgadillo makes it to the Trials, it would be fun to watch him against the older guys (Franklin, Warren and Young) and see how well his talent is opposed to them. I just don't see him beating Simpson though.
123) Torres. Not many people know Perez, but he is good - one right uppercut to the body, hope it's not over

178) Brant. I never heard of Ryals, his fights haven't been too close, but they were against local comp. (Illinois and Indiana) and maybe they were just there because of the location of the tournament. He could have took advantage of an easy side of the bracket, yet that gains confidence in a fighter and pushes them when they are on a roll. Should be an interesting one.

I've seen him fight Magdaleno (the second time I think, 2009 USA's) Frankie Gomez at JO, I think Bennie Culpepper and John Franklin at the former PAL tourneys.. Good boxer, fast, beating Sandoval is very impressive, and as I stated yesterday I thought it would be close to pull out the Pat Harris fight but he did.

-Magdaleno ended up beating Warren at that tournament, but Torres had him with 1 minute left he was up by a point or two.
