True legend, shame he's retired. Veteran of over 40 fights but still young in boxing

I think Ricky is burning money in the promotion game and would rather he packed in and enjoyed his wealth. While he can....

fought 4 p4p'ers....beat 2 in Tzu and Castillo and lost to probably the most outstanding 2 boxers of their generation in Pacman and Floyd.

Ricky - enjoy your retirement mate....you gave me some amazing nights and thanks to you my missus got into boxing thereby saving me the earache of justifying every PPV buy i make...having said that her scream when pacman knocked you out woke up the whole f**kin street!

anyway Ricky Hatton i salute you.

im a hatton fan, but counting castillo as a p4p fighter when hatton took him on is going too far, perhaps tzsyu too.

They were both listed in the top 10 by some reputable places, Tszyu especially. He was top 5 in most

like the man says he was listed as such when they fought...i agree he was past his sell by but that's not how the record books will see it....and don't forget it was only after that fight that everyone agreed he was shot.

and that body shot woulda done anyone regardless.

tzu was undoubtably in the top 10...probably top 5 when Ricky took him out....as an aside i saw a photo somewhere recently of Tzu after the fight...his face was mashed! never realised he took so many shots tbh..

castillo wasn't in anyone's top 10 list when hatton fought him. most people thought he was shot before the fight.
tszyu, yes, we all thought he was a live one but it didnt turn out like that (something obv hatton couldnt have predicted)

Castillo was, i think secondsout even had him listed at no4 if my memory is correct. He'd had a dodgy performance against N'Goudjo previously but saying he was shot was going a bit far.

he DID look shot against n'goudjo but he WAS still in the top 10....

@ foxwoods - tzu was p4pp...undoubtably....i don't understand your point...are you sayin the fact hatton beat him meant he wasnt as good as previously thought?

i think the fact tszyu was shit and then bailed out, before retiring from the sport for good, tells us all we need to know about what state he was in

He will be using his personal money, allegedly has more money as does Matchroom. He will not be the leading Promoter, but he can make a decent living out of the sport.

allegedly? Where did that come from?

Ricky gave us some fantastic fights and had a hell of a lot of talent, fitness, bravery and commitment; even my wife liked to watch and she normally only likes the good looking ones

I hope and am sure the rest of his life will be good.

A very good box fighter who could out mexican a top mexican :box:
