Venues or towns/cities: Tapanhin and Budokan

Post by Emaster »

The location for the Oleydong Sithsamerchai vs. Junichi Ebisuoka fight held on June 18, 2008 is given as Tapanhin, Phuket, Thailand. It is not offered by the location search. I thought editors select a location from the collection of locations that have been fed into the database. Anyway, I have merely found the district of Taphan Hin, Phichit in Wikipedia. Is there really a city/town of Tapanhin in the province of Phuket? Or is Tapanhin the name of the venue?

Budokan, Okayama, Japan is given as the location for the Jose Antonio Aguirre vs. Wolf Tokimitsu fight held on November 11, 2001. I haven't found that in the location search either. (Nippon) Budokan is a venue in Tokyo according to Wikipedia. Is there also a venue called Budokan in the city of Okayama or is Budokan a town/city in the Okayama Prefecture?

here http://www.boxrec.com/location.php?coun ... _action=Go

Some locations still need normalising, there were 450,000 originally which have been filtered down to 40,000, I guess there are another few hundreds to go.

I don't know if I wasn't able to find the venue of Tapanhin or if you've just added it, at least I now know what it is :TU:. I go on wondering, though, whether Budokan is a venue in the city of Okayama or a town/city in the Okayama Prefecture. I still couldn't find it by using the location search.

Still no entry has been fed into the location search for either the venue or the town/city of Budokan in the Okayama region in Japan. The Jose Antonio Aguirre vs. Wolf Tokimitsu fight was held there on November 11, 2001.

Budokan in Japanese means "martial arts hall". There are probably hundreds of venues called Budokan in Japan.
Agiuirre-Wolf was probably at the main regional Budokan at Okayama City.

I've finally found the entry for the venue of Budokan in the city of Okayama. There is even a double entry called Okayama Budokan unless Okayama really has two "Budokans" called "Budokan" or "Okayama Budokan" respectively.

These two entries could also be merged with the entry whose url is cited above:
1. - select -, Okayama, [not specified], Japan
2. Orange Hall, [not specified], Okayama, Japan ("Orange Hall" is one of the venues 1. includes.)

Never heard of a venue called Tapanhin. Most bouts take place in makeshift rings but in this case, I believe Tapanhin is one province and Phuket is another so I'm not sure what the deal is.

The above-mentioned merging orders have been complied with :TU:.

Whether Tapanhin is really a venue still needs to be found out.

I do not think it's a venue. I will ask the wife it's a province or not.

The Sithsamerchai vs. Ebisuoka fight was held at Saphan Hin, Phuket, seemingly a public park.
