WBA sanction "regular" Heavyweight title fight! Hahahaha

We Be Assholes are running true to form with the flagship division. Wonder if they bring an Interim champ in soon too (come out of retirement John Ruiz - the world awaits!!!).

What a great and correct move by the WBA, I can't wait till we have a 'regular' champion.

Belt or no belt, this a good match-up and Povetkin will win with style. He is the next great Heavyweight.

Gives a possible future opportunity for Chisora, Fury, Price and the rest. If one of those dudes picked up the belt in a year folk wouldn't be so judgemental.

You obviously haven't watched any recent Povetkin fights. The guy lost a round against the ultra shot Bruce Seldon and looked like crap against a journeyman last time out. I have no idea how anyone could possibly think that Povetkin is going to be a great heavyweight. Even if he had the ability you think he does, he doesn't have the balls to fight the best in the division.

I watched all of his last few fights. I know everyone thinks I'm a nutter for backing him, but he's the future of the division. He will beat Chageev and when he does step in with Wladimir, he'll knock him out.

hmmmm....well I don't see him as being particularly skilled, hard punching, or accurate. He is physically strong and keeps the pressure on, which is enough to overwhelm most fighters. He's also very easy to hit and not particularly fast. Good fighter by contemporary HW standards, but I would be shocked if he turns out to be a great fighter, and as I suggested earlier I've seen more regression than improvement.

If whoever wins gets an injury in training for their first defence, would we have an interim regular champion too?

Doubt it if Povetkin continues his avoidance.

I've stopped getting worked up about the bullshit titles now, at least it means we get to see a good fight and see if povetkin can cut it at the top level.
