why do we need titles

why do boxers need to fight for titles why can't the best box over 12 rounds and just have a ranking system i.e 1/2/3/4/5/ i've just seen on another thred that the wba are sanctioning regular heavy-weight fights now it seems that the people that run these titles are just cashing in ??? if it carries on like this your gonna end up with the world gym champion or even worse audley will win a so called proper world title

Not practical for fighters, networks and even fans. We all sometimes say, "Why don't we ditch capitalism? Let us bring down the state, get rid of the cops, ban money and live in a big park where we can run around in the nude and create a new race of enlightened tree dweller."

Nice in theory, not applicable in practice.
