One word - HIIT (actually four) - Hi Intensity Interval Training. My guys run about 6-10km a day and on two of the slow days, they get on the treadmill and run sprints. Most of the time it's 1:30 of work (sprinting nearly full out), then :45 seconds rest (walking). We mix it up sometimes with plain ole wind sprints, either 100 yard dashes or 440's. They're not yet where I want them but they're definitely getting more and more fit. I like the rowing machines as well - a good 1500 meters is usually enough - you can do sprints or whatever but 1500 meters seems to be enough with everything else they're doing.

Do both. One day is your aerobic day (long run day) the other is your anaerobic day (sprint day). I'd mix in some plyometric exercises on the sprint day too.

If you do the crosstrainer:
the slower you move (harder) the more fat you burn.
the faster you move, the better your stamina gets (condition).

Slow moving with a continues heart rate at around 100-120 will provide more effective fat loss than fast running. But I canny tell how big the difference in fat loss is, but in the long run it's the same effect = fat loss with better stamina.

That interests me, I understand the concept, believe me Sports Science is what we have, but its Not Gospel as a few top Sports Scientists are finding out, Gravity can be utilized to help improve training. SNS gets to much Stress, causing injury to the Pathways long term.

I don't really mind about getting rid of fat since my bodyfat is around 6%. If you're new in the game I wouldn't recommend long runs, I would take it slow and easy. Especially if you don't have the condition to keep running for long. The more you move = the faster you get tired.

Alex Ariza has always said one should vary his exercises. The body will always get used to a certain exercise if repeated often enough. No matter how brutal it is.

Alex, no problem plus Ive been around a long time., I would like to know what documentation Fact you have on your statement. As we have been getting similar results, on Testing something similar non impact.. At 140 bpm the body produces 30% more Lactic than Running. Where at VO2/ max 180 bpm the body produces, 20% less Lactic than Running. Interesting what Stress appears to do to the SNS and the affect it has on the clarity of the Golgi and Pituitary Gland.
