Who has the better resume...Wlad or Vitali?
With the defeat of David Haye, soon after Vitali took out the divisions other great hope Solis, i got thinking, who has the better record?
Vitali has fought Lewis, beaten Corrie Sanders, Peter, Arreola and the aforementioned Solis.
Wlad has beaten Haye, Chagaev, Peter and Ibragimov.
Thoughts?

Wins over top ten opponents
Wlad: Haye (top 5), Byrd (top 5), Peter (top 5 first time), Ibragimov (top 5), Chagaev (top 5), Chambers (top 5), Brock, Thompson, and McCline.
Vitali: Sanders (top 5), Peter (top 5), Arreola, Solis, Gomez, Hide, and arguably Johnson and Williams (The Ring had these two at #10 and #9 respectively, but I had them ranked lower).
I think that Wlad's resume is better in terms of quality of opposition defeated. I see Byrd and Haye as better than any of Vitali's victims, and I rank Chambers, Ibragimov, Chagaev, Brock, Thompson, and McCline higher as an aggregate than I do Arreola, Solis, Gomez, Hide, Johnson, and Williams. On the other hand, Vitali does get a bonus for defeating Sanders and performing better against Peter, and unlike Wlad, Vitali has never suffered a hard defeat or struggled significantly in victory.

Vitali would beat Wlad no doubt.
Yet wlad is seen by many to be better???
Crazy world!!

I think it would depend when they fought. Today's Wlad would beat today's Vitali, imo. But the Vitali that fought Lewis would probably beat any iteration of Wlad.Jon Saxon wrote:Vitali would beat Wlad no doubt.

Even now? I think that Vitali's too slow and punches with much less authority than he used to. His key is in using his height to lean away from his opponent. He'll have no luck with that against Wlad. Have you noticed that Vitali hasn't fought a tall heavyweight since Lewis?Jon Saxon wrote:I think that Vitali outmans his brother everytime.Asterix wrote:I think it would depend when they fought. everytime wlad has lost vitali avenges the defeat
D
timing has alot to do with boxing & vitali aint the same animal he once was. id still say he beats wlad but not as convincingly as he once would.

Wlad has the better scalps - but vitali has only lost once and to lewis in a not too one sided affair.
I think beating haye just put wlad infront.

the same weeks notice lewis had. At least Vitali would know what Lennox was all about, whereas who the hell was the Ukranian to Lennox at that point.hurlock wrote:kingfinn wrote:Wlad has the better scalps - but vitali has only lost once and to lewis in a not too one sided affair.

IMO Lewis knew that Vitali with notice was going to be far too much for him at that point! So he got out at the top! Intelligent man!

Hogwash. Vitali was on the undercard of Lewis - Johnson so he too would have been through an intense training camp etc.
Don't imply Vitali was on holiday, got the call to fight and a week later gave a fully fit Lewis hell.
Lewis was clearly out of shape. Maybe he took training lightly because he was meant to be facing Johnson who did not offer any threat at all?

Re: Who has the better resume...Wlad or Vitali?
Yes, Vitali was scheduled to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard of Lewis-Johnson. Both Lewis and Klit had the same notice.
Re: Who has the better resume...Wlad or Vitali?
Klitschko was a title holder during Lewis's reign, ranked in the top ten entering the Lewis fight, and fighting on a card headed by Lewis. Klitschko was a relevant player in the division and Lewis had probably seen him fight several times before.funtime wrote:the same weeks notice lewis had. Re: Who has the better resume...Wlad or Vitali?
Yeah but in reality lewis had been training for a lesser fighter and was visibly in the worste shape of his career, he'd lost his hunger and was on the verge or retiring. If it had been a prime lewis in that ring i think vitali would have got taken to school.crusader wrote:Klitschko was a title holder during Lewis's reign, ranked in the top ten entering the Lewis fight, and fighting on a card headed by Lewis. Having said that the lewis that turned up that night would still beat almost all the division with relative ease.

Lost also to Chris Byrd in 2000.kingfinn wrote:Wlad has the better scalps - but vitali has only lost once and to lewis in a not too one sided affair.I think beating haye just put wlad infront.
