Great article. It made me feel like I actually saw some of the bouts. Those are the kind of details that make articles about amateur boxing more interesting.

Thanks, Dennis. Understanding that most won't be able to see the fights I tried my best to capture the gist of what happened while being brief.

I was happy to see there were few bad decisions, but it's also hard to pay complete attention when trying to catch two fights at the same time during the preliminaries and quarterfinals. Almost everybody thought Easter deserved to beat Caferro, but Caferro did rally in the last round and many of Easter's punches were somewhat open-handed or not as clean which the judges obviously weren't going to score. Easter did look very very sharp however, just needs to shore up some defensive holes.

I'm sure the Qualifiers being in Cincinnati and Easter being from Ohio had nothing to do with people thinking Easter should have won. Either way, Junior always makes for an exciting fight because he loves to brawl; I'm just glad to see him make the Trials again because he's worked so hard over the past 4 years.
