It's normal for the UK fighter to keep all the money here, isn't it? So how did Khan screw them on UK money? I mean, Mayweather and Pacquiao didn't get a slice of the money Hatton made here, did they? And this is Mayweather and Pacquiao we're talking about. The then P4P number one fighters and locked all-time greats.
And this trend you talk about of Khan's lot being tight, is overblown. People are quick to refer to the McCloskey and Maidana cases, but but ignore the Bradley and Judah ones - where they bent over backwards to try and make one, and drop the reasonable 60-40 for a generous 50-50 in the other.
And the Ariza business had very little to do with money, despite what all the reports claim. It was more to do with the way Ariza - who's no angel by the way - conducted himself with Khan's team. I mean, if it really was to do with money, then how come they had no problem in paying him for the previous four training camps, and patching up the differences immediately for this one?
In this case Judah doesn't have as much sway as the aforementioned opponents and is on much less than 50-50 all things considered. So im not sure why you allude to the fact that he actually is given 50-50 when he's not got any % of UK money, it's mathmatically impossible ?
Everyone in boxing knows that Bradley's deal with Shaw is over and he's signing with Top Rank, his manager Cameron Dunkin has put it all together for him, like he did Donaire and Kirkland before him, whom he managed and removed from Shaw for bigger opportunities. It was all a PR stunt of making Bradley look bad. Hence Team Khan become unusually generous in their offers... despite Tim Bradley being unable to draw flies. Then they revert straight back to type for Judah.
Ariza might not be an angel - but the reality is that his room was broken into and robbed of contracts with Khan for his services. then Khan publicly declared he worked for Freddie and was nothing to do with them. It was only when they realised the services Ariza provided were vital to the Amir Khan roadshow, that suddenly "all is forgiven, here, have some money" and the relationship resumed. That is fact and is well documented. Ariza had no beef with Amir, it was this "Team Khan" yet again.
Perhaps the same advisors who have shat all over Sky when they excercised some quality control of the undercard and overall value for money package that his last fight afforded his fans.
Other far more willing and exciting fighters dont hold a gun to TV companies heads and roar it's PPV or get lost, for what many believe was a pedestrian and hand-picked opponent.
They run their affairs like a cash & carry, failing to realise that relationships are the key to long term success - and dutch auctioning round their product simply pisses off everyone that really, Team Khan, should be bending over backwards to look after.
I thought it was the US money, that Pacquiao wanted more than a 50-50 split with – which Arum dug in his own pocket for. Hatton kept all of his UK money, just like he kept all of his UK money against Floyd. And the complete 50-50 Haye-Wlad split wasn’t exactly easily agreed to, was it. Haye half-heartedly gave that up.
And the 50-50 I’m referring to with Khan-Judah, is the US split. This is the same 50-50 that Judah has been referring to as well. He himself said he didn’t care about the UK money.
Yes, Shaw, being the ass he can be, did indeed deliberately make Bradley look bad by exploiting Bradley’s decision to not keep his promise to HBO, etc. But I don’t think you can call that a ‘stunt’. The improved offers were genuine, regardless of whether they were made knowing Bradley would likely turn them down and make himself look bad in the short term.
The Ariza situation was complicated by the fact that Ariza originally did work for and got his payments through Freddie. This is shown in one of the 24-7s where Ariza and Roach talked about how they teamed up, etc. Then around the time of the Pac-Margarito fight (I think after), Roach changed the payment plans and informed Ariza he would have to have his own contracts arranged with the fighters. It was this alteration and the way Ariza went about securing this contract directly with Khan, instead of Khan’s management team, that dented the relations and led to the subsequent fall-out. Actually paying Ariza, was never the problem. Which is why Shah, Khan’s dad, during the fall-out repeatedly said they’ll pay Ariza but they’ll be getting a new guy in. Now I agree that Khan’s team are indeed a bunch of clowns and they handled the whole Ariza situation, as well as others, very badly, but the notion that they were cheap and didn’t want to pay Ariza, is not entirely true.
The rest of what you say I agree with.
