Like I said Sexton did not fancy Haskins fight. To be honest I think its a sensible decision Ashley as at present your at different stages in your career. If you can make flyweight then that would probably be an eaiser route to go on the domestic scene.
For Haskins he only needs one more defense to win Lonsdale belt outright and I know Lee would like to secure that. Otherwise Haskins would box the winner of McDonell v Hall but I know McDonnell does not fancy Haskins either as Lee has beat him already. Lee should now enter Top 10 of WBA as Boulegcha was No.11 so we can also explore that route.
Jamie would love that fight as he was robbed when he was only a kid in there fight.... he wouldnt be able to last the pace now with Jamie... Haskins is good at what he does.. single shots n pot shotting, he doesnt put his shots together and cant fight with a high work rate soon as someone hits him back he starts holding n looking at the ref for help... Mac would love the fight
I think its ridiculous to say Jamie Mac was robbed against Haskins, I agree it was a close fight but nobody got robbed, Jamie Mac never protested at the final bell. For that fight we were told it was at Super Fly and then the day before told it was at Bantam Even with the weight and Haskins being low on confidence having 6 months out after Napa loss he was still able to beat Jamie.
Jamie Mac and has progressed really well since that fight but so has Haskins, I am sure it would be an great return match. I guess we will have to see if their paths cross..........
Jamie Mac seems a really nice lad who deserves his success, best of luck against Hall which should be a good fight.
thankyou i was just going on what you said saying Mcdonnell wouldnt want the fight... i wasnt working with jamie at the time but at that fight as a friend and a supporter i felt jamie won the fight and so did the sky panel only person who didnt think he won was the ref and gave it Haskins by 1 point. jamie was only 20 at the time n took the fight on under 3 weeks notice didnt really train and took it for the money.. his confidence was also low as he was also coming off a contrevesial loss to Edwards for the british title. Lee looked well last night n its great for is career as he seems to have been shut out by sky..hopefully now this will put him back in the picture.
Jamie would love that fight and also the Edwards fight wich will never happen due to weight difference.. he would love to have the chance to put those defeats behind him from a bad time in his career when he was just playing at the game.
Cheers for your kind words and we will be watching closely how Lee now develops.... best of luck to you guys
Its a coincidence and a credit to both of them that Jamie Mac and Haskins have remained undefeated since that fight and both have had to travel abroad to prove their worth. Since Jamie won the EBU title in France SKY have supported him so I hope that we get a similar opportunity.
Boxing fans need to understand sometimes how tough it is on fighters, Lee has a wife and 3 kids to support and being shut out for 18 months by the Italians/EBU Title and SKY has been really tough on him, he could have easily walked away from the game.

Does Lee plan to stay at Bantamweight or go back down to Super-Flyweight, I'd imagine the IBF and WBA will be willing to rank him if he does choose to step back down. What is the plan with Lee now?

For the little it's worth, I've always quite liked Lee. I felt sorry for Lee against Napa, but I did actually want Broadhurst to win the fight between him and Lee, I admired the way Lee stopped Broadhurst from fighting his fight. But last night, going over for what was apparently little money but a great opportunity showed me what Haskin's is all about. I've gained a lot of respect for Lee and I hope he can make a real go of this chance that he has really earned. Best of luck to all involved.

To be honest with boxing you never know what tomorrow brings. Lee was due to box in Cardiff on 23rd July defending his Super Fly Comm title but that was cancelled and then suddenly this opportunity came along.
I know Lee would like to win the Lonsdale belt outright and only needs one more defense but we are struggling to find challengers.
Would happily box winner of MacDonell v Hall or the WBA route is a major possibilty now. One things for sure we have a few more options than last week!
I know you hear this a lot in boxing but Lee would happily box anyone at Super Fly or Bantam. He's 27 and we don't want his prime years to pass by with boxing politics like the past 18 months.

Yes Dad has recovered well from cancer, still not 100% back to his best but just spoke to him on the phone and he was estatic with the win. Boxing is his life so this win will be a great lift for him.

I can make Super Fly and thats my plan to fight for Titles at the Weight, i aint coming on here being a Computer Warrior saying "I'l have the fight lets get it on etc" But i would love the fight, for me to go any where i have to fight for Title's, there aint many in the weight. had a win since i last lost, its been a while since iv been at 115lb but i weight 118 3/4 on the day 2 hours before my last fight, imo it would be easier to make 8.3 the day before then 8.6 on the night.. Lee's a fighter a lot dont want to fight not many can look good against him he's just got that style but effsctive at what he does. What he done against Don was very Clever, but because of that reason Sky dont want to show him, he went aborad Box well and Looked a lot Better.. You were saying how the sky team has got behind Jamie McD since his win in Frence maybe now the same well happen with Haskins. If its going down the WBA and the IBF inter Routh then it will go to pruse bids(?) and i Know who loves that Belt Hatton, they've got Craig Lyon and maybe that might make a Good Pruse Bid.....

Martin, like I said before I respect you as a fighter and know that you are always up for a fight. To be honest we thought that maybe your best days were behind you when you boxed our fighter Matthew Edmonds but that night you proved you still had plenty in the tank! Lets see what my father and Lee have in mind but as you know at the end of the day its down to the powers that be with the TV money.

100% right if Sky would of had the fight maybe it would of happen a while back, he's had the British and Commowealth at Super Fly for a while now British late 2008 and Commonwealth late 2009 and not his fault of his inactivity. Of course it also comes down to money and imo Sky really likes Hall and McD so the winner of them i can see Sky wanting for Lee NOW that he has them Title's winner takes all 5 Belts the winner getting a World Title shot... Not talking my way out of the fight just thinking what would make more Money that dont happen im more then Happy to step in
Ashly you doing Fly? I see Shinny is out to purse Bids.. Might put your fight back 6-9 months maybe you and Paul Edwards for your English, in the mean time? Frank M has a lot of say in that weight it could even put you back even more if he give's P Edwards a Volunatry of the winner C Edwards and Shinny... Was you injured or just didnt fancy doing Super Fly against Haskins?
Just seen the fight, and Lee boxed really well , a controlled performance.
Have to say that thats the furthest i've seen a crowd from the ring ever. Must of been a bit of a strange atmosphere for Lee to box in. So all the more credit to him
