Re: Gary Mayor is he going pro?
Jawaid Khaliq, (my boxing coach) and I had a chat about him tonight. He said Mayor is the most gifted guy he has ever fought or sparred. He boxed in a competitive match against Mayor. Bear in mind Khaliq has sparred the likes of Macklin and Hatton so its a big accolade.
Khaliq also said that Mayor came down to the gym when it opened. I must have not been there that day and he looked super sharp in sparring and hadnt missed a beat from his sentence. Just a lack of fitness. Jav said that Mayor would have been a world champion for definite and he said a 'real' world champ at that. Will he go pro? i do not know. I will ask him if he is at the gym on monday

Re: Gary Mayor is he going pro?
From what im told , he is waiting for his probation to finish before applying for a pro license , but giving his previous conviction theres no guarantee he would be granted one , then again he could just say that and not bother , i dont know , but i do know pro boxers who have said therir returning from breaks from the ring etc that just dont , they dont seem to want it enough , so unless Gary says something himself directly to me or maybe to kamikaaze from here , or maybe gomez as he seems to know him then were only going to be speculating , for all we know hes quite happy being a sparring partner , its just not the impression i get .

Hello well here I am! Gary Mayor! Well I see that there is a little discussion on whether or not I will make a come back! What can I say! Well here goes. I am now 22, ish anyway and I am feeling great! I am training but not fully yet. I would love to fight again and hopefully I will. Right now I am just trying to sort out the licence, its taking time and not even a guarentee! We'll see what happens! I will keep you posted. For the record I have never even fought David Starie although we have sparred! Any questions feel free to ask! Take care guys

What weight are you looking to compete at and what would your goals be if licensed?

Re: Gary Mayor is he going pro?
just to say ive heard of why he was in jail etc. I don't think the information needs to be discussed as that is not the Gary Mayor who is around today. To use the old phrase 'that was the old him'
Re: Gary Mayor is he going pro?
Gary besides nathan cleverly the lightheavyweight division is weak, so there is no reason why you cant challege for titles, how old are you gary? and what trainer r you with?majormayor wrote:Hello well here I am! This information is in the public domain and will become common knowledge if he gets a licence, so he might as well be open about it.kamicazze wrote:just to say ive heard of why he was in jail etc. I don't think the information needs to be discussed as that is not the Gary Mayor who is around today. Hey I'm a very young and fresh 36! If I am honest without sounding to boastful, I believe I could beat any Light Heavy in this country! Ya gotta have self belief! Maybe my aspirations are out weighing my capabilities but only if I get in the ring will we know!Cotto16 wrote:Gary besides nathan cleverly the lightheavyweight division is weak, so there is no reason why you cant challege for titles, how old are you gary? and what trainer r you with?majormayor wrote:Hello well here I am!
