okay... i know that boxrec.com rankings arent "official" but there is one ranking that really bothers me, and i think it does a great injustice to a great boxer. Jack Dempsey (the Non-Pareil meaning the"not equaled")middleweight is ranked around 5000. 5000.. i found a french boxer named Marc Desfourneux who had a record of 1-42.. if jack dempsey was to look at this site and he his name ranked that low, he would be insulted, well im insulted too. I would rank Jack dempsey in my top 15 middleweights of all time. The great "Non-Pareil" finished with a 47-3-10 record, but he often gets overlooked because of his name. He was middleweight champion of the world until he lost to bob-fitzsimmons, and then he lost the world welterweight title to tommy ryan. both were exceptional fighters. Dempsey's losses all came atthe end of his career, and before he lost his first bout, against George LaBlanche by way of knockout in the 32 round, dempsey was 45-0-9.. i dunno if you guys would rate this great irish boxer a top 15 middleweight, but how bout top 5000...this is insulting to his whole career....
Really old-time boxers usually seem to be very underrated on this site. Heavyweight Jack Dempsey is only rated something like #70 of all time on here! I suspect it has something to do with the highly incomplete records from the pre-1960's time period.

Correct - looking at Middleweight Dempsey's record, we only have records for a mere handful of his 60 or so opponents. Everyone else is 0-0 or 0-1. So as far as the ratings program is concerned he never fought anyone (although we all know better). This is why the all-time ratings should not be taken too seriously especially those involving the older fighters. The data is simply nowhere near complete.
