It's time there was some accountability brought into the sport. Sky are single handedly keeping the sport going in this country and are entitled to value for money.
What they really need to do is stop pandering to promoters who sign cheques their ass can't cash when going for the amateur stars. I don't buy all this ''they'll fight abroad if we don't give them these deals'' crap. They should be on a couple of grand a fight like everybody else seems to be - and should earn their big money once they've earned the opportunity to challenge for titles.
Something's obviously out of kilter when DeGale and Gavin (and others) are making more fighting Eurobums in their first few fights than others make for world title fights.
Sky seem to be making strides, they've got the best British fighter by miles on their channel and aren't allowing any old shite to be put on PPV anymore.
Watt is useless, gets too over-excited about things that happen and talks a load of rubbish.
McGuigan is a great addition and since Smith took control of Boxing they seem to be doing more for the fans and not getting up people like allegedly and Robert Smith's arses.
The Cook fight was a disgrace and the referee should have instantly pulled him out as well, clear that the guy was in awful pain.
The Burns/Cook fight was a shambles. To be honest Warren aint my prefered promoter anyway. He has put some shoddy shows on in the past. Bellew fight was boring. Burns/Cook was a disgrace. Funtime Frankie should lay off the fun and knuckle down. Only good thing to come out of the night was the Murray/Mitchell fight.
Robert Smith lacked professionalism in his response. Any fight that effectively ends after 6 seconds with barely a a punch thrown is entitled to be called a farce.
Rather than complaining about the tone used by Robinson, I'd have preferred Smith to take at least a neutral stand - confirm that medical processes were followed and BBBC were satisfied with the fighters safety, etc and then confirm that an investigation into events would be undertaken. That would have demonstrated ownership of the situation, without coming across as defensive. Smith was there as a representative of the BBBC and not for allegedly Promotions. If a member of team Warren had taken issue with Robinsons comments (as is evident on Twitter today), that would have been understandable as they have a responsibility to defend their promotion; Smiths responsibilities are to the sport as a whole, his response should have reflected that.
Agree fair play to sky for asking the questions that the fans would ask. The end of the day British boxing needs sky so they can get away with the questioning.

he's been boxing since he was a kid & gave his life to boxing & has not came out with much apart from a broke nose & abit punchy not leaving himself many prospects. ok his put what he has into a bar in spain which will end as a long holiday coming home skint. he has had a call to take a fight which is an oppurtunity of a lifetime when you take his present circumstances into consideration & how could he refuse???do you have a family? have you ever fought or been in the buisness?? probably not buy your remark's.I get sick of seeing people used as cannon fodder & chose when the odds are stacked highly it should never of been sanctioned regardless of his back which was known.you've been had over & the wbo is a joke a european promoters world title :!: gary buckland would of been a great candidate & wouldnt be used because he is fukin live :!:

I'm sorry mate, I normally agree with you but Ed was entirely justified in taking that line. In fact, he would not have been doing his duty whatsoever if he hadn't. Nothing to do with being tabloid. Both Ed and Adam Smith should have got stuck in more but it's a start, for sure.

I agree the match was a sham in the first place. However, Cook was completely complicit in the sham.

It would be a farce if he went in with a huge cut with a plaster over it.
Face it, it was the old injury. Said he had sciatica, which were exactly the symptoms he complained about in the corner - pain from lower back going down the leg.
A degenerative back problem usually mean degenerative discs between the vertebrae which exposed the spinal nerves causing extreme pain. As someone who has had back issues and sciatica, it's something I know about.
Cook thought he could get away with it and had at least boxed a six rounder. But it was always a poor match.
