Adnan Amars return
just seen on Adnan Amars facebook page that hes bbeen added to the undercard of chisora v fury against TBA , been a while out of the ring now , is he still holding the english title , or has he been stripped ?
Re: Adnan Amars return
He still holds it. The BBb of c keep ordering English title matches yet his opponents don't want it. Frankie Gavin is a noteworthy one to reject that match. Nice to see him return.
Re: Adnan Amars return

Re: Adnan Amars return
Was supposed to be on the Kell brook undercard in shefield, trained for it and sold some tickets, but for some reason was removed from the show, it must be terrible for him ? Around 2 years since he last fought. Non of the promoters want thier fighters to challenge him for his English title because mainly he is not a big ticket seller and very awkward and difficult to fight, he is also a big welter, a typical case of Promoters controling title defences, now they are waiting for him to vacate so they can step in, that won't happen and the BBB of C don't want to do it for him. So the title remains undefended for about 2 years, would that happen with the British Title ? Shows what the BBB of C think of the English Title, yes same thing happened with the English light middleweight title held by Andrew Facey for a number of years, another Awkward, difficult Ingle fighter and another fighter the promoters did not fancy.G0mez wrote:Interesting news.

Re: Adnan Amars return
Frankie Gavin, who many on here insisted is world class, pulled out of the chance of boxing Amar - his promoter seems to prefer him boxing light-welters.
Time to step up to the plate Frankie.

Re: Adnan Amars return
In talks to face Colin Lynes after this warm up fight.
Re: Adnan Amars return
I think it was more a case that he has the potential to be world class, and was a world class amateur. Nothing in Adnan's resume suggest's he's the next coming, neither opponents nor frequency of fights, and the board obviously rate the English title at the same level as the rest of us. Hope he does well on his comeback though, always feel for people who haven't had the rub of the green. Obviously needs to stay busy.Pugilist-specialist wrote:Frankie Gavin, who many on here insisted is world class, pulled out of the chance of boxing Amar - his promoter seems to prefer him boxing light-welters.

Nobody has suggested that Amar is the next coming, but the fact that Gavin sidestepped him to fight Curtis Woodhouse speaks volumes.JamesH wrote:I think it was more a case that he has the potential to be world class, and was a world class amateur. do we know this was definately the case , not doubting its true just that if hes been so inactive why would gavin be worried , Adnans record from memory isnt full of names but hes a nottingham lad and us notts people get behind our own .Pugilist-specialist wrote:Nobody has suggested that Amar is the next coming, but the fact that Gavin sidestepped him to fight Curtis Woodhouse speaks volumes.JamesH wrote:I think it was more a case that he has the potential to be world class, and was a world class amateur. Does it really? What does it tell you? Is it that Frankie is scared to fight Amar? or that the fight didn't make sense to Frankies team at that stage of Frankies career? As shocking as it might seem to you, nobody gives a shit about Amar's English title, not even the board, probably not even Amar. Feel free to keep kidding yourself thoughPugilist-specialist wrote:Nobody has suggested that Amar is the next coming, but the fact that Gavin sidestepped him to fight Curtis Woodhouse speaks volumes.

To be honest watching Frankie last time out it looked like he didn't give a shit about boxing - full stop.JamesH wrote:Does it really? What does it tell you? Re: Adnan Amars return
I have no problem with Amar but to counter your point, fighting once since May 2008 doesn't seem to enthusiastic neither. Furthermore, Curtis was Frankies 11th fight, Adnan didn't challenge for a title until his 13th, it was an area title, the first opponent he faced with a winning record and looked what happened there, look what happened to Hickman's career afterwards. Amars only fought four people with winning records, as well as Hickman he faced a 5-2 record, a 10-0 record, and a 9-6-3 record. I'm not slagging the bloke off, just applying a little perspective.danfoster wrote:To be honest watching Frankie last time out it looked like he didn't give a shit about boxing - full stop.JamesH wrote:Does it really? Let Adnan make his own future, there's no reason to try and grab Frankies coat tails, particularly as he's returning to a weight that could see him reach the elite. If Adnan has the talent, he can make his own path in his own weight division. Just seems that every post about Frankie turns into a 'he avoided Amar for the English title', lets look back when they've both retired and see where they both ended up. I'd like to think Frankie will be beyond an English title after 23 fights, but let's see.

Re: Adnan Amars return
Nobody is grabbing Frankie Gavins coat tail, Adnan did not ask for the fight nor did Gavin, the board did it themselves. Warren does not want him to fight at welter unless it's against a light welter, but Gavin can't make Light welter, that's the dilema.JamesH wrote:I have no problem with Amar but to counter your point, fighting once since May 2008 doesn't seem to enthusiastic neither. What was the reason for Frankies team not taking this fight when nominated?
i thought it was becasue he was moving down to lightwelter but then he takes 2 fights at welter Muttley / Woodhouse after this?

Re: Adnan Amars return
his facebook says hes now boxing on 30th in liverpool , seems hes getting messed about a fair bit
Re: Adnan Amars return
what he needs to do is get on this and start a slagging match
Boxrec seems to get theses fights made
by the way Kev Mcintyre was happy to fight him begining of year byut got offered the fight in Italy in Jan so was better option
although there were grumbles from Adnans camp i believe about coming to Glasgow Dinner show so cash wouldnt have been great and was likely to pull out.

Re: Adnan Amars return
The way i see it is Adnan is suffering from the same treatment that Junior Witter, Jawaid Khaliq, Bradley Pryce and many other talented boxers over the years have. Basically they are high risk and low reward. By that I mean these guys are people you would box who are very capable of defeating you, but you won't get paid well for it. People don't mind 50/50 matches if there is good money involved, but they don't want 50/50 matches for small pennies. Not only that, they are fighters who in defeat will also expose the flaw's of said fighter or make them look bad which makes them less appealing to the audience for future fights. So all in all, not fighting Adnan Amar is a buisness decision from most boxers. A sporting decision would be to fight him
Re: Adnan Amars return
colin lynes vs adnan amar seems a good fight think lynes is very capable of beating him.. dont think gavin is scared of fighting him amar doesnt sell any tickets only 35 if he is lucky..
