If this is true then no one can continue to deny that it was a "farce."

Exactly... since Ian and his team had the balls to break the story about the bookies all those individuals who came out of the woodwork to condemn posters for their criticisms have been noticable by their absence.
Also interesting to note that Bunce, who appears to love nothing more than critiquing online journalists, chose to devote his precious column inches in the Independent into a free platform for a certain promoter mounting a one-sided defence of the match.
In the meantime, it was the online guys that he disparages so much who took the time to perform the role of the 'proper' journalist and dig into the real story, rather than relying on easy soundbites.

I've just posted on another thread that I'm soooo disappointed the bout and/or the betting aspect didn't get a mention on BBC Radio Five Live's Boxing Hour last night.

It's a proper news story - I thought it would be worth a mention at least. The bout was given the big un by some before hand, you know, 'world title fight between two Brits' and it ended in farcical scenes with a related betting investigation to follow.

I mean come on...

By the way, I'd be astonished if this chap has been arrested for anything to do with gambling irregularities...simply because I'd be amazed if anyone has even got off their arse to look into it yet.

Hilarious. Bunce describes "brave" Cook's "heroics" - What a "journalist" he is.

Having now been successfully neutered, he'll definitely be getting good seats at the next show.

Agreed. i'd be amazed if the old bill made arrests relating to such an instance so quickly.

Cook's back injury during the fight was 100% real, anyone how can watch his body movements and suggest he was "faking" that is mental.

The only issue here, as would be in any sport, is a camp backing their man to lose. That is a serious, serious crime and if Horse Racing and snooker are indicative, then those concerned should be very worried.

Btw, never underestimate the bookies ability to make headlines. These coups are more often that not bollox, and betting surges that see schmucks bet a 66/1 shot at odds only a fraction of that is good business. For all the bluster we might be talking about a dozen £10 bets. Shops do NOT lay £200 correct round bets, EVER.

I get knocked back on £25 bets very often. Shit, I got knocked back on £10 doubles the other week.

I remember Darren and Nicky boxing at Barking A.B.C and then Hornchurch. I always thought Darren was more exciting to watch. Don't know why he didn't go pro like his brother. Someone told me he does abit of unlicensed boxing. :??

There doesn't seem to be any confirmation that he has been arrested and, as I said, it surely won't have been for anything to do with gambling on the fight...

A little bird told me that Kevin and his brother Vinny "kicked off" with the Cook brothers not so long ago, it involved people getting chased down the street with weapons. I notiched at the weigh in, that both Kevin and Nicky were at other ends of the room and didn't talk to each other. And Kevin said on TV that he'd been sparring/training with Nicky's oppoment Ricky Burns. All is not rosey

Can only speak from my experience with radio the morning after the fight. Racing Post published the story before the fight, it was in the public domain. Talksport knew all about it but wanted to steer clear when I went on, it's called editorial control. Every chance Bunce was asked not to go there too. He doesn't own the BBC, might have had no choice.
