I am going to get this one in first but Steve Robinson who won the WBO Featherweight title back in 1993 on two days notice while working as a storeman for Debenhams. Made 7 defences of his title before losing to Prince Naseem Hamed http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_ ... &cat=boxer

Tocker Pudwill

the fact he got two world title shots let alone one against Ottke and Calzaghe without ever beating a ranked opponent is still shocking and just shows how easy it is to get a world title fight if you just happen to have the right kind of management.

I am not sure the posters so far have grasped your question properly: do you mean examples like:

1) Ray Mercer facing Wladimir Klitschko?

2) Terry Norris being fed to Laurent Boudani?

3) Simon Brown being given to Bernard Hopkins?

4) Roberto Duran vs William Joppy (although not really a world title)

etc?

Yeah Khan vs Barrera is a great example. Or Gairy St clair even. Young Muttley being brought in to be fed to Funtime Frankie is another one. When Carl Froch fought Robin Reid was another good one.
