Well - my logic is
The British title is one of the oldest national titles in world boxing. The British title has had many great champions and a history that is second to none. Within the eight traditional categories is a history and prestige that puts any title belt out there today into a its proper perspective - and that includes the WBC/WBA/IBF and hahaha WBO.

Perhaps it is a smidge below the British title but still quite comparable with a logical path to the EBU title unlike many intertwobob titles.

You've convinced me a little mate, think I was being harsh a little and definitely looking at it with "anglo centric" specs, wasn't really looking at it with the point of view of other nations.
I'd say its a european version of the english title, which to be fair I quite rate as a decent domestic stepping stone/foot in the door belt.

I respect Martin Rogan, he's a tough, tough fighter.... But his comeback trail stopped short last November, don't know why that was, I never heard any talk of injury....
To be honest, I think that Rogan is making a bad move here, even if he does win this European title (not the EBU) where will it get him?
This is not a prestigious title, and it won't get him much credibility in the boxing world.
Rogan should be going on tour and beating 4-5 journeyman fighters in Europe, and come back with a winning streak...
And let all this Fury bvs Chisora dust settle..

There was talk for months of Rogan fighting Kubrat Pulev for the EBU-EU title, and Pulev would be ready for action by Oct 22, so there is good chance Rogan will be fighting Pulev. Even if it was universally accepted that the EBU-EU title is worthless (which it isn't) a win over Pulev or any relatively well known European level heavyweight would be huge for Rogan, especially because most people think that he is finished. He would suddenly become relevant and worthy of fighting anyone outside the world level.

Agreed. Why risk fighting journeymen when you've got the chance of Title contention. At 40 he's not got many chances left.

problem is Rogan stands no chance vs pulev , of all the fighters on euro level Pulev is one of the worst possible opponents for Rogan , Pulev is a fighter on his way upwards and will be on the world scene before long

Mate Rogan needs to get out of the way, I can't see him beating Chisora, Fury or Price... And if he is serious amount getting the EBU title, he should be looking at going on the road... And journeyman fighters take fights at short notice.
This could all be done by October/November.

Rogie looked trim on Saturday night and was very animated at ringside, involving himself in the policing of the Fury clan at one point and later imploring Tyson to hold when he had Chisora beat.
Fury v Rogan makes a lot of commercial sense doesn't it?
