Thought it was fairly polished for C5, was really impressed! I was a bit disappointed with the lack of undercard, especially as they said at the top of the show that they'd be showing it, but that's just splitting hairs. For a first go for C5, I'm very happy. Let's hope they keep it up!

Emailed C5 to let them know how impressed I was by the production and the fight itself.

No point in just discussing it on forums - let's make sure they have a deluge of positive emails to read come Monday morning!

it was a lot better than i expected.

i was in a bit of a dilemma..... i wanted Chisora to win ...but if Fury won we'd presumably get more fights on 5 whereas Chisora would go back to sky and ppv with Warren.

to sum up how utterly thick and stupid the mass of Boxrec Fury fans are...one of them previously moaned about the fact that it wasnt on SKY ????!!!!!!!!

this is why the sport is dead !!!!

Good job I thought and it was nice not to be annoyed by the commentary, unlike Primetime's coverage last night (Zab Judah a legend... Really???).

Jim Rosenthal was excellent, as usual. Why is this man so underused these days?? :o

He is, by far, the best presenter I've seen for Boxing, infact any sporting event. His boxing knowledge is A+++. He is smooth and can spot things most colour guys miss.

Al Bernstien was also great, a fine boxing commentator, so presentation wise, it was an impressive showing.

Rosenthal needs to be used a lot lot more, in my opinion.

I enjoyed watching it as well. Very professional very well put together I think Dave Farras is a very good knowledgable commentator as well and I think they did very well in bringing over Al Bernstein over who I personaly is much better than Lampley and Merchant as he is not as partisan as either of them and is very fair in his summary of the fighters and is extremely knowledgeable and I hope we get to see him more over here if Five choose to show more boxing as I think they will do very well in showing live boxing for those who do not wish too or are unable to pay Sky's fees for subscriptions.

I thought it was really done well last night. Much better than there footy coverage. The only let down was the promise of the best of the undercard action yet they never allowed themselves enough time.

It also seemed like they were hinting at this being the 1st show of many. Hopefully it is.

I have to say I enjoy Jim Watt's commentaries, however Channel 5 pulled a couple of great master strokes, getting Al Bernstien, impartial and accurate and the Legend that is Jim Rosenthal.

Both, smooth, professional and to be honest, its criminal that Rosenthal is not used much nowadays as a Boxing front man. He is head and shoulders above anyone else.

Fury - Chisora Channel 5 numbers.

Post by Big_Amzzino »

Got this from a reliable source...
Channel Five got massive numbers for Fury Chisora From 10pm, the fight averaged a slot-winning 2.26m (13%) peaking with 2.9m (19.7%)
Those numbers are crazy. Before the fight Channel 5 were saying 1 million viewers would be considered a success.

Looks like there still is real interest in boxing domestically! Great thing for the sport if Channel 5 are paying Hennessey enough to put on decent shows...

that sounds very good, Boxing should be supported, it's one of he sports Britain do best in and now the matchmaking is getting better, things look promising and are made to get more casual fans into the sport.

Very good indeed.

I noticed the narrator for the pre fight sections had the surname Darke- sir ians son perhaps?

Thought the raw feel added to the atmoshpere.

Impressive, and its got to be good news for boxing.

My father in law, 84, was treated to his first live TV boxing show in a long time, and he loved it. Nice one Hennessy and Channel 5. Make sure you get a few more in before the old bastard croaks.
