I agree with you Jeff, Utopia for boxing fans.

However, that's just UFC and there a lot more MMA fighters out there that hold dodgy titles.

You also need to get the boxers to stop recognising the alphabet titles. Why would they if it can get them extra money by calling a fight a 'World Title Fight'? Would casual fans be clued up enough to differentiate between this new body and the WBC for example? Would the promoters be willing to ignore them if it means sacrificing money?

If, say the BBBofC refused to sanction the title, then it wouldn't happen.

Choose to ignore the titles! Why aren't the ibo or WBF or wbu taken seriously? Why should the big four be considered serious?

It's a choice but if everyone in boxing agreed it was for the best and ignored the nonsense titles it would work! The fighter is the champion not the governing body!

Were in a great position to make this work now thanks to the governing bodies becoming greedy and decentralising themselves with interim bollocks.

Its possible for everyone in the top ten to be a world champion at the same time! It's laughable!

Where's all the money to do this going to come from. What about the lawsuits from the sanctioning bodies, who will take it to court? Cental government in the US aren't going to spend the money to do this. Commissions are pretty powerless most of them, it's only really nevada that have any serious clout.

Using Fifa as a model doesnt encourage me much, look at the corruption scandal currently ongoing!

I know that's like saying "Yeah, only these two rapists on the girl-scout trip, all you other rapists stay at home" but it's a start, I feel.

Does the Japanese boxing commission merely refuse to sanction the other alphabets or is it more a case of they're not legally allowed to trade in Japan or what?

I'm sure the BBBofC used to refuse to sanction one governing body, back in the late 80's. It might have been the WBO? My memory isn't what it used to be. Maybe Ezzard will remember.
