Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
I'm of the mind that a Fury - Chisora re-match will happen at some stage over the next 6 to 12 months............
This fight will happen for quite a few reasons i believe. Firstly, the fight wasn't a close run thing in terms of the points decision for Fury, but Chisora still looked dangerous right towards the end with all the bombs he was throwing and lets face it, no-one would have been completely suprised to see Fury caught with a shot and go down or be stopped at any point in that fight. Fury had better stamina, did the more enterprising work, but lacked any real menace with his punches, where as Chisora was just looking for that one big shot all night.
Fury was up for the fight, he knew it would be his biggest task to date and prepared the best way he could. Fury is lacking in the basics for me, he doesn't punch correctly, his stance is awkward and he doesnt have a great defence at all, but what he lacks in technique, he makes up for with sheer determination, heart and courage, all things that Chisora was lacking that night. Chisora seemed lacklustre at the press conference, as if he just had to turn up for the fight to win. I think it seems obvious that the cancelation of the Klitschko fight has had a huge effect on his state of mind and consequently it was a rather jaded, unconditiioned and de-motivated Chisora that night.
This brings me to my second point, in that we didnt see the best Derek Chisora against Fury and both fighters know that. If you did a poll on the sight to see who would win a re-match, i would say a fair few would wager Chisora to win, based on the fact that Fury gave all he had to give in the fight, where as Chisora in my opinion is capable of going up a few gears if he is motivated, well conditioned, sticks to a proper strategy and looks to expose Furys weaknesses rather than just moving forward like a bull in a China shop. The third point is that Fury is in no rush to move up in terms of quality, because he lacks experience. Ive heard that he will try for the Irish title, make some defences of the British crown and then look at some European fights, if he manages to get that far, which is by no means certain.
The last point is an obvious one, in that Chisora at the moment has not a lot of options on the table. The heavyweight title fight that was on ice has definately dissapeared and he is in no position to dictate who he fights next. Chisora could have a warm up fight against one of the other domestic heavyweights and then look at a re-match with Fury. If Chisora had shown all he had on saturday night then i would perhaps say that he should pack it in, but we all know that whilst Chisora and Fury are perhaps at similar levels, the derek Chisora we saw fight that night was someone who let himself down and is capable of so much more. Its also a fight that people would want to see again and would be another good advert for Channel 5 if they screened the fight.

Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
Chisora needs to put together a string of victories, at the moment, he's someone who turned up out of shape and listless for the biggest fight of his career, a fight than could have resulted in a world title shot. Right now he deserves nothing, that could change, but Chisora himself has said he's only interested in boxing for the money. I doubt he can motivate himself to get back in the picture, i wouldn't be surprised if he retired.
Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
All valid points, but if I was Fury's promoter, I wouldn't want him near anywhere near a fit, focused Chisora. Not until there's a serious strap/amount of wedge on offer.Quixall wrote:I'm of the mind that a Fury - Chisora re-match will happen at some stage over the next 6 to 12 months............

Also, it took a pretty massive purse bid to get Chisora in the ring in the first place. I'm not sure Allegedly has the confidence in Chisora to return the offer.
Would love to see it though.

Fury has to run like hell from Price now![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Ordinarily, a fighter would beat Chisora and then move on and upwards, but Fury is still very naive as a fighter, he has a lot to learn in terms of technique and is no way near physically mature, even though he is a big guy. Fury hasn't reallly had the benefit of being in a professional camp on a permanent basis and is still being trained by family members and it shows aswell. All im saying is that because Fury will take at least another 2 or 3 years to get where he needs to get to in order to possibly dominate the domestic scene and then go looking to the European level, Chisora will always be an option.

No no mate, haven't you heard, exclusive news just in from Johnny Cockumber. Chisora MEANT to come in 16 1/2 lbs overweight. It was TACTICS.Scottrf wrote:I'd like to forget about Chisora. If he can't be bothered neither can I.
Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
Yeah but what's the point if he can only put in 2 bursts of punches over 12 rounds? I sort of agree, I just think his performance and preparation were pathetic and need convincing before wanting to see him in with the British Champion again.Quixall wrote:I can see where you are coming from and agree with your sentiments.........butScottrf wrote:I'd like to forget about Chisora. He definately needs to prove to people that he is worth supporting again and will need two or three fights before he can think of a title shot again. If i thought that all Chisora had were those left / right combinations then i wouldnt have written this thread, but i think that he is capable of so much more, at least to the point where he takes the likes of Fury to the wire.Scottrf wrote:Yeah but what's the point if he can only put in 2 bursts of punches over 12 rounds? Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
I thought he would beat Fury, until I saw the weigh in. Any time he put pressure Fury looked helpless. Just, he did it about twice. Whether that was because he was tired or disinterested I don't know.Quixall wrote:He definately needs to prove to people that he is worth supporting again and will need two or three fights before he can think of a title shot again. To be honest, I'm surprised we haven't yet heard that something happened in his training camp.

But if he was so disinterested in what Wladimir intimated was effectively an eliminator for a shot if either man wanted it, then what precisely WILL motivate him. Chisora is a man who clearly isn't in love with the sport. He said as much himself in the build up. I think he saw the chance for a nice payday against Wlad previously, and when he got overlooked, I think he saw that as some sort of injustice and went into a bit of a sulk. Don't forget, this defence was a mandatory, so he clearly didn't choose the fight, for whatever reason, he really didn't seem to want to be there. His demeanour in the pre fight hype was one of utter disinterest. Even when they filmed him for Channel 5, he was busy chatting on his mobile, and then rambling some balls about bloody parking meters.
Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
I'm guessing that Chisora became disillusioned after getting in shape for Klit twice and getting zip.
On his performance and attitude he does not deserve a rematch

Calzaghe and Clev both were/are trained by family members. Both Hughie and John Fury were former pros. Chris Sanigar was in his corner. The guy had been out to the Klitchsko camp.Quixall wrote:I can see where you are coming from and agree with your sentiments.........butScottrf wrote:I'd like to forget about Chisora. Chisora doesn't deserve a re-match after that performance. One sided victory. He needs to get back in the gym, lose some weight and fight maybe Audley.

I have no interest in seeing rematch. If Chisora cannot be bothered to fight for his title and basically do nothing for large periods of the fight then thats says a lot about his character. He needs to get some good wins behind him to show his commitment to the sport, which to me seems lacking.Quixall wrote:

Remember Chisora has had exactly the same amount of fights as Fury, its not like he is very experienced himself.

Well i did say that he hasn't had the benefit of a professional camp on a "permanent" basis. His uncle and his dad may have been former prosfessionals, but to what standard and just because they have done a bit of pro boxing doesn't make them the right people to train Tyson. You only have to look at some of his technique to know that he isn't being taught correctly. Look at how Amir has come on since he went to work with Freddie Roach. Tyson needs someone like Manny Steward to oversee his training, but that won't happen until he gets more of a profile and is closer to gaining a title shot of some significance.mickey1975 wrote:Calzaghe and Clev both were/are trained by family members. Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
If Derek Chisora wants to fight Tyson Fury in an attempt to regain the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight titles, he has to get back in line. Fury has stated that he wants Martin Rogan next for the Irish title prior to having to fight the winner of the David Price-John McDermott final eliminator, and if Price wins Fury will not duck him as Fury sees an opportunity to get revenge on Price for defeating him back in the amateurs as well as being a threat to being the best Heavyweight here in the UK. Should he get past Price he will then go for the winner of Alexander Dimitrenko-Michael Sprott for the European title. Then perhaps go after Robert Helenus amongst others.
Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
I'm not totally convinced, although I do see a lot of improvement in Tyson Fury, he's stopped fighting like a busy flyweight and he's definitely picked up some tricks of the Klitschkos. I think the McDermott fights helped Fury mature as a fighterkeithmoonhangover wrote:Even if he's in shape, Fury still beats him with ease.
Not saying Chisora would win a rematch, but he didn't do himself justice in the first show, but he's got nobody to blame but his fat self
Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
Delboy's got to get in line.
It's the British title, and he couldn't be arsed.
A couple of victories over good opponents and he's entitled to another shot. It wasn't as if it was a BS stoppage or controversial decision. Practically everyone had it 9-3 or similar to Fury.

Re: Fury - Chisora Re-Match ? I think has to happen !!
i wondering whether its gona be the case of Fury never being able to do right for doing wrong with some fans. he hasnt had much credit for DOMINATING a dangerous professional champion at only 22 and in his 14th fight.
Im sure if he beats rogan it'll b "well hes 40 now.....", and then if he beats Price it'll b how "weak the domestics are".
OK, he got a lot of stick for the 1st McDermott fight and quite rightly (but even that "robbery" was blown out of proportion, you could have made a case for a close fight, it wasnt as 1 sided as its been portrayed), so he answered his critics with an immediate rematch, Knocking john out on his own patch, and still didnt get much respect. Most picked Chisora to KO Tyson early and that didnt happen either, but instead of giving credit where its due every1 bangs on about Price. And its not like Price has done much himself yet to warrant the all the praise.
Im not a HUGE fan of Tyson but I do feel he needs to be cut some slack, hes only 22. Price vs Fury is one of the few domestic scraps I wouldnt mind left alone for a while simply cos I think they both have a bit to learn and a bit more seasoning with lead to it being a much better fight.

Why should there be a rematch ?? Fury won 9-10 of the 12 rounds
