I seriously doubt that Ortiz can do anything against Mayweather apart from Catching him cold etc..........

If he fights like he did against Berto, he will get picked off badly and stopped. I think Ortiz is game and he is up and coming, but he hasnt been in with the quality that Mayweather has and is a little over hyped right now. This is just a warm up hopefully for you know who

I don't think Ortiz will win this, Mayweather is a couple of levels above Berto, but he will give a real go. Unless Mayweather has suddenly faded, it's his to lose.

I dont think that a lose will be a serious problem for Ortiz in this fight, because most people are expecting that to happen. Like you say, he will have a right go at Mayweather, but i see him looking a little silly and being frozen like Shane was due to Mayweathers movement.

I think the Ortiz-backlash during the maidana fight has changed him forever.

He was smashing Maidana all over the place in a war, then just chucked it in.

But since that fight two years ago, he has been tight at the weight and the move to 147lb has done him the world of good. He went from a draw against an average fighter like Peterson, to knocking Berto all around the ring and taking his WBC title.

Mayweather will win on points, but Ortiz will have his moments through sheer recklessness and wild punching.

ortiz is a quitter. when the going got tough vs maidana he fought on. but when he got really hurt and maidana was relentlessly coming forward to the point where ortiz was literally hurt, wounded and backed into a corner, he quid. Vs Berto, he was never taken to the same place Maidana took him. Listen, when maidana knocked him down in their fight, he got up and kicked his ass for a few rounds, knocking him down twice. he did the same vs berto but i have a feeling floyd is going to systematically break him down and then start walking him down like he did vs zab judah. i think we are going to see a quitjob by ortiz. mark my words, he doesn't have the heart deep deep down but you have to take him to that place like maidana did. you can't train heart. floyd is good enough to take him there.

I need to look at Ortiz a bit more, but right now i'm thinking he's made for Mayweather, no doubt hence the reason he's been picked out. Ortiz is a very good fighter, but i dont like the fact he's been talked up as a real threat to Mayweather, it only aids to elevate Mayweathers standing when he stands Ortiz on his head (another hand picked oponent). Thats what i'm expecting to happen, Mayweather by total domination, and perhaps a chance to see a rare KO victory for Mayweather.

Listen, bookmakers are no fools, they dont make the same mistakes casual sports fans do and get caught up in the Mayweather hype etc. Ortiz on average is around 5/1 underdog because thats what he deserves to be. Had Mayweather, now nearing 35, not been inactive for almost 1 & 1/2 years (come fight night), i'd expect Ortiz to be around 1/8 against. I'm a man that likes a bet, and i'm well aware bookies dont always get it right, but on this occassion, they're on the ball. I actually think Ortiz deserves to be longer than 5/1 against as an average.

Even if Mayweather has aged overnight, i still think he'll have enough to handle Ortiz comfortably.

The interview? I like Victor Ortiz. Good guy; looks focused. It's worrying that he admits that he has no idea how to beat Floyd. I'd have thought that fighters watch fighters and they have ideas of what they'd do with this style, or how they'd beat this guy, or what they'd do to counter such and such a move. Victor seemed to genuinely have no idea. Second, I really do start wondering about a man's prospects in a fight when he puts so much of his chances on his "relentlessness" and "heart". Like Baldomir, Mosley, Hatton, Hernandez et al didn't try that, or didn't have confidence in their heart?

Second, Floyd is delusional. Every single fight, he talks about being right there, coming forward, going toe-to-toe. He never does. He's more than capable of fighting, Toney style, in the pocket. But he never does. I don't mind him not. I appreciate all types of boxing, but why does he make it up? I can understand him doing it for promotional purposes, but he tries to rewrite the history of past fights, too. The guy is so full of crap that he could double as a cess tank for the MGM Grand.

Finally, notice early on, when Kellerman asked, "Why have you been away for so long? Why did you keep your fans waiting?" Mayweather, for once in his life, didn't know what to say, and managed an embarrassed, "Um, erm, I don't know." But we know why, Floyd. Because you didn't want to put your 'Oh' on the line against the only credible opponent and had to wait until someone did something that would make HBO want to pay you to fight them.

Against anyone else, especially pressure fighters, he'll be on his bike for the first five, before breaking him down, attacking more in the third quarter, and then coasting to the win.

I think this is the final fight in which Floyd can keep an audience interested..............The next fight has to be Pacquaio !!

When Floyd beats Ortiz and leaves "The sport of boxing" for another six to 12 months and comes back to face anyone other than Pacquaio, people are going to say "You know what, forget it......." and that to a point is already happenning. Who else could Floyd fight after Ortiz that would keep people's interest beyond a Pacquaio match up ? Forget the likes of Khan, Berto or even Bradley moving up to 147lbs and then you only have say Cotto and Margarito at 154lbs, possibly paul Williams or a tasty encounter with Sergio Martinez........

Out of those fights, the only ones that would raise an eyebrow would be Cotto, even though the result would be a foregone conclusion and Martinez, which is a fight i would like to see made. Khan is no way near ready, Berto isn't up to it, Williams is shot goods really and Bradley is all on getting to sort out fights at 140lbs. So, like i say, baring a Martinez Showdown after Ortiz, the patience is wearing very very thin indeed for Floyd's supposed "Fighting the best" yearly encounters. People like Cotto and Margaritto would have had some pull before the Mosley / Margarito and the Cotto / Pacquaio fights, but not now. Floyd is always saying "If Pacquaio want it, he can get it....."

So make the match !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good video that I enjoyed it. Mayweather was confident without being disrespectful and I think if he keeps that up then he might just win a load of new fans. I can't see Ortiz posing Floyd any major problems tbh, I just think he is a pretty straight forward style of fighter who poses no real puzzle to Floyd.

I know what you mean but quite a few fighters I've talked to aren't bothered about watching a lot of their opponent. I remember Mayweather also saying in an interview that he doesn't watch tapes, he just works them out and adapts in the ring. Whether it was true or not, I don't know but I think it could be compared to a lot of footballers not being football experts and playing to their instincts.

Agree 100%. His fight with Berto was a real barnburner, and that was in large part due to his aggression and the pace at which he fought. But it's easy to forget how close Berto was to getting him out of there in, I think, the eighth. He caugh Ortiz early, and had him on extremely wobbly legs for around 2 minutes of the round. Ortiz was literally one decent punch away from going. Then, with about 15 seconds left, he caught Berto with a southpaw right hook spot on the point of the chin, as Berto was lunging, looking for the KO, and shifted the tide. Berto looked as if he didn't come into that fight expecting much, and when Ortiz fought like a wild man and knocked him down twice in the first, he couldn't recover. Ortiz definitely had Berto in the more consistent trouble. He also deserved the win. But that doesn't change the fact that Ortiz was down multiple times himself and was the closest to being knocked out in the fight.

It's an easy night for Mayweather.

Why do people somehow think that Floyd is going to be much smaller? Ortiz was fighting at 140 one fight ago, and Floyd couldn't even make 146 against Marquez. He might be a bit smaller, but it's not going to be anything like, say, Pacquiao against DLH.
